how much would I noticeably miss from the Mach 1 with a GT
IMHO for a daily I'd get a ecoboost especially if your not tracking/racing. Or a GT500, same thing. Haha.

Either way, order it from Granger Motors or Chapman Ford for 2% or 4% under invoice. Fly in and drive it home, or have it shipped and still save money over MSRP and then some.

Agreed that is a perfect spec. That $8k will cover the cost for the supercharger you and I both know you’re going to want. It’s a no brainer IMO.

Is there a specific all season tire that is recommended? Maybe the Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus?

Having sold Mustangs and other Performance Machines for 30+ years ( retired now ) I would agree to go with the majority to go with the GT you selected as you began your thread with the distinct mention that it will not be tracked. Frankly if you said you would track the car I believe the recommendations would change quickly, but that is not your intention.

I would politely disagree with aham23 that folks should not ask the question about tracking their Mustangs because as a SCCA autocrosser, NASA Time Trialer, W2W in both, and NASA Instructor the number of Mustangs at events is quite dramatic. Selling GT 350s, GT 500s, PP1s and PP2s I can honestly say the number of Mustang owners who track their machines is much higher than most makes , though as he noted the majority never take their car to the track. Helping run a Motorsports Division besides selling ( and the vehicles went Nationwide ) I would estimate 20-25% of the owners autocross, drag race or do Time Trials/HPDEs at some time. There is a reason Ford invests in a Ford Performance Driving School when so many other Corporations have no interest.

I believe the Mustang passion is why some folks do bring up the tracking idea or question, since the ones who do hammer the asphalt are a very vocal and enthusiastic group. We who do track our cars may get on the nerves of those who don't, but it is not because we don't listen to others who are not interested , we just are not always that good at reining in ( pun intended ) our love of various forms of racing.

Excellent point and I wish you were my salesman when I put in my order. Basically I incorrectly assumed the HP was a fantastic value for the price with the wheels, suspension, etc as an add on with a car at 3500. The salesman (and I’m not blaming him but he should and his manager should know the customer) should have said hey what’s your intention on this? It’s coming with comp2’s, that front splitter is pretty aggressive , are you thinking you are casually driving this (not even daily), because it’s not going to be realistic especially if a spouse takes it out. They just punched the ticket but when I did more research I realized I hadn’t gotten the items I really wanted like the 700 package and something I could cruise in like my old 71 firebird or the 69 Impala I had. I nearly cancelled my order but went back to them personally and changed to a 700 and non HP and I’m stoked for it. The sales manager was snarky mentioning they couldn’t work with me i if I changed my mind again (wtf?). I told him exactly what I said here, know your customer that’s all. YOU should be the expert. For me it wasn’t about the money as I could have gotten a GT with a family discount but wanted something unique and if overpriced I’m okay with it as a 50 year old present to myself and the boys, but to your point it’s more than most need/want/value.

Wow one change and they give you attitude? What an ass. If it’s still sitting in the order bank it a couple minutes to edit it.

If I was only going to use mine for a daily without tracking it at all, I would have gone for the GT. In my case, I do the occasional autocross and track day and found myself slowly upgrading the 2013 GT over 7 years to make the car a bit different and improve its track ability. I'm no Ricky Racer though and am just doing it for enjoyment...not in competition with anyone.

When the Mach 1 came out, I decided on its purchase vs a new GT as it has what I want from a fun car that can be daily driven.

In reality, I think a large segment want the Mach 1 as it is slightly different....nothing wrong with that.

Thats part of it for sure. I got a big promotion and went looking for something a bit ‘special’ to celebrate. It doesn’t hurt that in the current market a special edition is a better than usual buy. They are rarely discounted in normal times so paying msrp would mean less of a price delta. The mach 1 I ended up on specifically because manual v8 might only be around a few more years. The turbo 6 auto Ill have another crack at if I want one.

I am constantly amazed why some folks in my past business can't just explain things to prrospective buyers when making adjustments to orders. Why the Dealer could not just be polite and let you know that making a change would delay the order and once it is at a certain point in the build schedule no changes can be made. One unfortunate thing with the new ordering structure ( both with Ford and Stellantis ) is Dealers are being viewed very strongly and orders must be purchased by the individual whose name is on said order. If one changes their mind and a new order has to be processed, in the same person's name, one vehicle would come in and get sold to someone else. Though we all see this as legitimate the folks at Corporate see it as an attempt by the Dealer to secure an additional vehicle under false pretenses - because for years some Dealers pulled this trick. There is no way to verify this with the zillion orders coming in so the Dealer could lose allocation. Just be honest and explain to the buyer this is his/her order, no one else's and they need to only sell it to him/her. Some changes can be made in the interim before the vehicle is picked up, but there is no reason to be rude --- give your buyer the simple truth and explain the process.

No kidding, lol. While I can't say that the MPG on the GT is going to be an improvement on the MPG on my C7, I can say that my car loan will be a couple hundred/month less that I can use for gas.

That's the one thing that might kill some of these ADM's as '22's hit the lots.
