Went with Diablosport/Holley. There canned tunes will rival LUNDS in overall power & drivability.
No offence WildHorse, I like a lot of what you post and your opinionated opinions and the fact you’re a fellow Canadian. But honestly, say what you will regarding the Diablosport Holley (honestly never heard of them until you started posting about them) but jeez, Lund’s track record, history, records etc and the thousands of completely satisfied customers that return time and again says everything about the quality they provide.
I’m tuned by Lund. Two different builds. I am definitely not a fan boy as I’m not a fan of them locking the tune etc, but I have never had an issue with the tune that they couldn’t overcome and was always provided extremely timely and informative responses. They gladly walked through an issue I had and troubleshot what was happening. No fuss. No whine. Just dove right in, figured it out and corrected it. I am in no way saying they are the best - they might be though - but there are other tuners out there that do great work. It’s hard to imagine a brand new player in the game become that good at it starting from scratch. A friend of mine is a well know GM tuner and I know the effort and trials he’s put in over the years to get where he is. It’s not an overnight thing.
I for one would love to tune my own car. I could spend the time to learn and learn by trial and error. Or I could pay a reputable and proven company to cut to the chase and do it right. I chose that option and am blessed with a car that drives better than off the showroom floor and makes enough power to run the numbers I want in a fat heavy convertible.
I commend you for doing it yourself. You have more time and patience than I do. I’m glad this diablosport thing is working for you. I’m still not sure I know what it is or does. Is the diablosport just the device itself and the tuning is actually done via laptop? So are they are a canned tune company also? I’m hoping they’re not like a “Superchips” of the 2020s lol.

I said 'rival'.

Diablosport selling points for me:
- tune, obviously
- datalogging, second to none
- parameters you can change via the device I3, Trinity EX, etc.
- can add various sensors to the device, say IAT2 and set it up to read it, easy peasy
- always updating the device for features, better this and that
- no purchasing of credits
- no added expense of a laptop

Anyways the dominated the Mustang market back in the FOX days, they're going after that market again. I applaud them for it. Right now they're heavily into the Dodge/GM market.

Cheers.

No worries.

I was really big into racing back in the fox body hey days. Participated in many of the fun Ford weekends back then and toured around doing the MM&FF events. Liked the true street class. First with Paxton ball drive then the Vortech A then B then R trims from Lidio. Stroked 332 by J&P Performance. Good times. Still don’t remember Diablosport though.
Matter of fact, spent 2 weeks in Winnipeg breaking in a new motor and was even able to “race” a few of the local folks there doing it. Drove the car from Ontario to Winnipeg breaking it in and getting some miles on it. Noisy and raucous ride with a full cage and all. Had the X 5 speed with the 2.95 first gear.
Them were the days.
So the tunes that come on the Diablosport, can those be altered? Do you start with their base tune or blank slate? Full capability tuning it or only certain parameters? Do you have to buy credits as well like other companies or once you buy the device you’re good to go? Locked to that vehicle only or can you tune multiples with it?

Sorry for the multiple questions. Just trying to figure out exactly what it is. Honestly, I don’t know that I’ve read about anyone else using it. Is there many here using it? Is it just the device or the actual tuner?

thanks!

Cons,

2K to purchase software.
Doesn't do anything SCT or HPtuners don't do.

First off, you don't have the software, or any of their devices, therefore you don't know WTF your talking about. Secondly, how much should they sell their proprietary software for ? 2 bucks ?

Also, your the same guy who puts a truck IM on a mustang, mustang cams in a truck, and talk about how 5-star tuning can make the automatic trans in a mustang live while towing.

Yeah you can adjust timing, fueling, MAF, cooling, and a bunch of other parameters.

Coming from a guy who is letting diablo use his car as a test mule then coming on HP tuners forum asking simple how to questions.

As far as mustang cams in a truck, that truck screamed.
As far as a 18 up truck manifold on a 2 gen mustang, that manifold has much more avg power where most people use their engines. The same top end as the 2 gen gt manifold

As far as the towing comment that was directed at someone who questioned 5 star's ability with the transmissions. If they did not know how to tune a tranny there would be thousands of blown up trannies from people towing car haulers with their F 1-2 and 350's

Looking at the costs here. Lets say I have 4 cars I want to tune myself. With Diablo I have to buy software 2K and a dongle for each car. The trinity 2 is 700, so 4800 bucks so I can tune all 4 cars. I do get a cool gauge display.

If I use HP tuners MPVI2 I need to buy it once 300, then license each car, Lets use worst case and say each car is 200.

So 1100 vs 4800 only with HP I don't get the cool display. It is not worth the extra 3700 bucks to me.

2k software + $149 license and tune as many cars as you want.

Pretty hilarious though on how your bashing a product YOU NEVER USED. <- You seem to do this a lot.

It does have cool displays, and the device can do a lot of adjustments right from the device. If you don't like the price, don't buy it. Simple.

So you are saying I would only need 1 trinity device to tun all 4 of my cars? I see the trinities are manufacturer specific.

So 4800.

So @WildHorse agreed to be a beta tester for Holley Brands ?

Did you pay 2000 to use the diablo sport flasher?

I can't find the software any cheaper.
You won't find it cheaper. However I can get it for a grand. I've been working closely with Holley/Diablosport for the past couple months. My car is a test bed for a very promising tune(s) they're developing that'll make other big name tuners take notice.

I assume you know how to read, so go to the Diablosport website and read.

I did, one device per vehicle if you want them all tuned at the same time. Since I have Dodge and a Chevy I would need 3 at a min even if it worked like a MPVI2

You are beta testing the coyote platform yet you claim they are best?

You are beta testing and they are only giving a 50% discount on the software?

Did they at least give you the trinity at no cost?
