I'd like to try a combination of a stock exhaust with GT500 mufflers. The setup that was promoted here a few times and I also watched (and liked) some youtube clips with one. GT500 mufflers are supposed to be from '11-'12 IIRC.

My goal is to be just a tad louder than stock but not much more.

So here's the question - how does one obtain/identify these mufflers in either new or used form at ebay? Any other sources?

I browsed a bit and it seems like it is really difficult to identify these mufflers correctly as they look very similar to GT mufflers. Also, how does one know they are proper year?

P.S. I know Borla made those mufflers, but let's keep this topic dedicated to this setup. Let's not go "just buy XYZ brand instead".

You can look at the part numbers, I have them on my 2011

You want the 8214's they are stamped into the case of the muffler. Not the 5230's

They also have a SVT label on the inlet pipes which will be 2.75"

This ebay post is gt mufflers that visually matche 3 lines and single tip, so I think stamped part # is essential for correct identification. Correct me if I'm wrong.

P.S. Also found mufflers that are sold as a GT mufflers but have 8214 part # stamped.

Interesting, off the dome i didn’t remember the GT looking the same. But I stand corrected, best look at the number.

I had them on my car when it was near stock. They sounded great

There's an axle back kit sold by FRPP for these mufflers. Designed for the 2011-2014 gt. Not a direct fit. They sell both 2011-2012 and the dual tipped 2013-2014 mufflers.

That's the route I went. Not a bolt in project.

yes, either way it'll need a visit to a muffler shop for me.

It is not an urgent matter so I'll have enough time to look for either new or used option and see if I can save some money.

How was the cold start with them? Was it much louder than stock?

Cold start depends if I have the cats in or not. No cats it's definitely loud.
But it's nothing compared to the mbrp I had previously w/cats. That was obnoxious.

It's very quite with cats but it's been years since I've had a stock exhaust to compare to. But very quite in the low to mid rpms inside with windows up. Worth the effort to install imho. Great sound out of these and very tame inside when running catless too.

Kooks headers, cats, X, factory resonators, GT500 mufflers.

Definitely not quiet at cold start but quiet-ish after that bullshit ends.

Much better than the stupid muffler deletes that were on it before
