I'm about ready to order a Magnum XL kit for my 16 GT. Has anyone done this swap without using the Bowler harness, Dakota box, or other speedometer conversion? I ask because I have HPTuners and I can make my own tune changes. Can I just get some pigtails and wire it up, or am I forced to buy one of these solutions? I think I can handle the reverse lockout, but I'm not sure about the speedometer.

I've been doing some more research and discovered that it's not really the speedo that needs conversion, but the output shaft sensor for torque-based control in the tune, and also for cruise control. I'm think I'm going to attempt to wire this up without any conversion box or harness. I'll post results eventually, but it will be a while.

My first attempt will be to wire the 3 wire Mustang side of the harness to the 2 wire Tremec sensor. From what I hear, I should use the signal and ground, and leave the power disconnected.

Hey again,

thank you very much for the links you have shared with me. very useful and i will be working this out tomorrow and see how it goes with me. i will let you know if i had any complications. one more thing, whats that reverse lockout delete thing you have used ? is it a mechanical thing? i would highly consider that instead of fixing an electronic modules. if you can recall a link for that or where to get it from id really appreciate that. thanks again buddy.

Akram.

No issues at all, you just have to remember that it is not a lockout, and it's still possible to jam it in reverse, but it does provide a good amount of tension.
