That transmission is the shit! I've been planning on that for my '05...then I went and ordered another mustang. On hold for now...the wife is not happy about the '15 coming...at all!

Interesting that no speedo correction was needed.

The sensor uses the output shaft rotation to count.

Why would people get rid of the MT82?
The Magnum XL is a superior slush box with 700 ft lb torque capability and can handle 8000 rpm shifts. It also uses triple syncros, uses a blow proof bell housing and eliminates the semi-remote design. Far better transmission.

Again, I wonder how much too! If I miss a shift and grenade mine that is not covered under warranty, I need to know how much I should have in savings. :D

Isn't a factory replacement MT-82 about $5K? Sounds like a bargain to me!

I don't have the exact figure but the MT-82 is much cheaper than that. Less than $3k for the trans itself, not counting the clutch and other parts. The Tremec Magnum will be close to $6k installed when you factor in all the replacement parts and labor, maybe $5,500 if you install yourself.

For anyone thinking of just doing a swap on an otherwise stock Mustang be aware of how much taller and wider the gears are compared to the MT-82. Your car will feel much slower in comparison to the tighter gear spacing of the stock trans. Guys with forced induction would probably love it. The one Magnum-equipped Mustang I drove had a PD blower on it and it was a very sharp shifting trans. Had to slip 1st gear a lot to get going in traffic though.

A slush box is a torque converter (i.e., in an auto trans). A manual trans has no "slush box." In fact, it is essentially a derogatory term for an auto trans.
