My problem with RTD is you have always to have Laptop to switch between tunes and to datalog your car

but it’s a great product.
There is a standalone feature for datalogging, rumor is mobile device at some point to load tunes.

How often you changing tunes and datalogging? Once you get a good tune then this should be non existent unless switching fuels all the time without flex tune

Unless getting a revision my device stays in the glove box usually. Well and the occasional KAM reset. But I run flex full time where some prefer to swap between dedicated fuel tunes.

Mine (ngauge) stays up as a monitor but I never swap either. Flex all the time. I've had and seen pcm failures during flashing. Flashing a tune is always nail biting for me

basically i use 4 tunes on my car

N/A pump gas tune
N/A E85 tune
Nitrous Tune
Drain fuel tune

that’s why i need a device to switch tunes easily and doing KAM reset when it need to

I was running an e85 tune from them for a little while. Power was there but the daily drivability was gone.

Shift points were unpredictable; using rev match the revs would just bounce up and down and I had to kinda guess when to let out the clutch. Slow cruising in a parking lot would be a battle with the surge and jerks.

Maybe this is normal for an aggressive tune; IDK. Every email with questions went pretty much unanswered. All I could get was a general response to only one of the questions, of many asked.

Ultimately my nGuage failed completely. The car wouldn't relearn the fuel composition anymore and was stuck thinking it was still full of e85 despite running a couple tanks of 93. I sent them an email about that and was dismissed again. Called them out on the responses or lack there of. Rob responded "not that big of a deal buddy, I apologize."

I hate being called "buddy" my own problem but I hate it. It comes across condescending when I'm asking for help and info.

Only option offered was to buy a RTD, pay a diagnostic fee.

I ended up paying a Ford dealership to reset the PCM to stock. Then threw on the "power pack" from Ford.

GL for everyone else. I know they're a good shop. I'm feeling jaded with them right now.
I had similar issues in my 19GT M6 with the e85 tune. Even after data logging, nothing seemed wrong with the tune so I just run my 93 tune only since it has no issues.

I've noticed every tuner has their own way of doing the transmission. Some do it and it kicks hard as hell and some just do a little tuning. I've notice that mine it seems like the shift points were raised at both high and low speeds. Doesn't bother me except in the neighborhood when I leave in the morning and I have to hit the shifter paddle to quiet it down. Work with them and be detailed in your explanations and wants and they should be able to work with you. If not Ortiz performance still works with sct and he did my tune and I'm satisfied. But I will soon be removing my top end stuff and returning to stock for a bit got a vacation coming up and wanna get better mileage and a little smoother ride.

My problem with their transmission tune is not when the car upshift because it’s kicking on most of tunes on the market , but the new problem is when the car downshifts in normal cruising it’s kicks very hard and the transmission make noise because of that !
, I’ll message ortiz performance thanks .

Shaun knows this platform in and out. If he provided feedback it would definitely be worth reviewing.

For me the hp/lund RTD is a joke.. need to buy the credits, can only be used to upload tunes to the PCM, then you need a laptop + internet connection just to upload a tune to the RTD, and the laptop to datalog. I don't think android support will ever come for it. PBD unless your a high end customer, they treat you like dirt., there tunes are always hit or miss. Anyone using a SCT needs a psychologist. IMO if you want some of the BEST set it and forget it canned tunes, or custom tunes on the planet, see my sig. I just got a brand new tune from diablosport (Holley) and it's a mind blowing night and day difference to my previous tunes. Full write up / review coming in the next couple weeks. Cheers.

the device isn't the problem. Unleashed and Steeda (and others) use SCT and deliver perfectly good results. Now maybe other devices are easier to program or have more knobs to twiddle but let's lay the primary blame for shitty tunes on the shoulders of the tune, not the device.

I have heard before HP tuner is much easy than SCT software on VCT tuning tables , that’s why a lot of high rank tuners switch to HP tuner , Mustang guys was happy when Ngauge was come out to the market and finally we can use a new in car device to switch between tunes easily and doing datalogs but all this happy dream was gone away .

True. However the problem with SCT is the firmware updates, then the dreaded 'pcm not recognized' message. Not saying ALL SCT devices are that way, but when it happens, it's a royal PITA to make it play nice again.
