I am in the market finally for a power adder. I know I want a complete kit with an oversized heat exchanger. Who has the “best” kit in the twin-screw or roots blowers category?

You’re going to get a million answers. There’s a reason there’s a 40 page thread about people willing to wait months for Whipple superchargers.

I think the Whipple has more room to grow and the Roush is more of a “set it and forget it” type of deal.

I went with the Whipple complete stage 2 with oversized HE if that’s worth anything. Just a waiting game now.

So whipple is backed up? Seems like they are in stock at a lot of online retailers.

I’d break it down like this….which rotor pack/size, how good is the intercooler, and how is the tune.

Edelbrock, roush, and vmp all use the Eaton 2.65 liter TVS 2650 rotor pack, which is also supplied OEM in the LT4/LT5/Predator. It’s solid, but the larger 2.9 liter Whipple is spun much slower to achieve the same airflow, and has more ultimate potential.

All of them have gone to the inverted design, except for Roush. The inverted design is superior, by far.

Opinions vary widely on the tunes. I’ve looked “under the hood” so to speak, and I’m very impressed with the roush phase 2 tune. The Whipple works well enough, but the roush is closer to what an oem tune would be. Reviews on the edelbrock tune haven’t been good and I can’t speak to vmp.

I’m curious. What area is lacking in the canned whipple tune In your opinion? Mine is going on the dyno hopefully Tuesday. My local tuner is very good and well respected and said he actually does his adjustments off the whipple tune.

I waited 18 weeks for my 3.0L Whipple.

I would say get a Edelbrock or a vmp if you don't want to wait as long.

The torque of both of those tvs blowers is even more than the Whipple down low and it will give. you that "wow factor" from what I have seen.

But they all make power. Chances are you aren't trying to max out the blower, most people aren't. Any is a good choice. I added a link so you could see what I mean, visually.

And get an aftermarket tune. The custom calibrations are better in my opinion. If possible

if you look closer at the kits you’ll see that the Whipple kit runs less boost, less low rpm spark, and their cam schedule makes less low-end. The lesser torque is more a function of the pulley and tune than it a characteristic of the blower.

You learn something new everyday. I did not know that. Thank you

I had assumed tvs blowers just were better down low. Assuming both have similar pulley and boost levels.
Guess I was wrong

The roush phase 1 and 2 use a 3.15 pulley and Whipple uses 3.875-4. If you offset it for the different blower size you can easily see that the roush is pulling almost 10% more air in. Edelbrock stage 1 uses a 3.25”, for about 5% more air. And Eddy stage 2 really spins the crap out of it.

If you want a fair comparison put a 3.5 or 3.625 pulley on a Whipple….but I can’t recommend this unless you are a tuner and skilled at logging.

Wow I wish people made a video explaining this. Because think the Odin uses the 3.46 or 88mm pulley which is more than the 3.875 from the Whipple. Thank you!

I didn't know this

to be fair, a 3.4 inch pulley one one blower does not necessarily put out the same psi as a 3.4 inch pulley on the competitor…

…point being, look at the psi output more than the pulley size 😉

Correct, which is what I was saying about offsetting for blower size.

You would have to put a 3.53 on a 2650 to match the Whipple stage 1 flow (4”), but nobody puts that big a pulley on a 2650.

Even still, ratings state a Whipple stage 1 is 9 psi, stage 2 is 11 psi, roush is 12, edelbrock stage 1 is 13 psi, and edelbrock stage 2 is 16 psi.

Thanks for all the posts and you do learn something new every day lol. That video makes sense and the explanation in this post…. So I think I’m looking for a VMP or the edelbrock. I have heard of edelbrock issues before, but not sure how relevant or prevalent they are. Both companies have a been around a long time. I guess I’m leaning towards the VMP unless anyone has any reason to go edelbrock instead…
