BBK's website advertises 8-12 horsepower gain for darn near $600! The only case a bigger throttle body makes sense is forced induction. I could think of several other options for more power for a similar price. An E85 tune or longtube headers is better bang for your buck.ScottDay at HoustonHouseofHorsepower claims they're a solid upgrade for an NA setup. Supposedly they never saw a notable improvement until the Gen3 platform and on those it really took off. Not my words.
His posts made claims of 15-20 at the tire for a typical bolt-ons setup. $600 for 10ish horsepower is a lot, but so is $300+ to pick up 5hp porting a manifold yet EVERYBODY does that. What's the difference? I've had 2 of the 90mm BBKs now, one on the last truck and one on this 15 truck I have now and I've had no issues at all. But I also buy them from the refurbished section on the BBK site so I don't pay retail and they're supposedly recently gone through. With my Gen 1 Yote, I had nothing but issues from a BBK throttle body. For pretty much no horsepower gain, why risk drivability problems?
When I put it on I also loaded a new tune, but I do believe their was a little improvement. I was already running E85, long tubes, exhaust, but for a little over $200 it’s one of the cheapest mods and I’d do it againI was looking at a BBK. Racinjason65, did you see any improvement?
