Yes. Vacuum keeps it open until boost......and they are annoying loud while cruising at RPM above 2500...I just installed a PC red race BOV, lets say installation is a PITA, however, i had the PROFLOW BOV is the RED RACE meant to be open? i turned the car on and it doesnt close during idle?
Bingo.okay good and so under boost it will close, and once i release the gas it'll reopen correct?
alright well i think something might be off, the car doesnt want to go into boost, the only other time i ever had this issue was because one of the couplers blew off, as per this BOV im assuming that it isnt closing, i left the same sized vacuum line that my proflow had which i think is 1/8th vacuum line. Would that be the issue?Bingo.
Maybe it’s pinched? I do think for best valve operation on those is when using 3/16-1/4” vacuum line though. Watch the valve if you can while someone whacks the throttle abruptly from idle to 4000rpm. You should see it immediately slap itself closed for a a second when operating properly.alright well i think something might be off, the car doesnt want to go into boost, the only other time i ever had this issue was because one of the couplers blew off, as per this BOV im assuming that it isnt closing, i left the same sized vacuum line that my proflow had which i think is 1/8th vacuum line. Or hook up a line a pull some vacuum on it to watch it open then pressure to watch it close.Maybe it’s pinched? okay im going to give that a try and its not pinched im abou 99% on that, im going to change the line today to 1/4th since the fitting is 1/4th and i will go ahead and give that a tryMaybe it’s pinched? 1/8” Could be collapsing. Hmm.okay im going to give that a try and its not pinched im abou 99% on that, im going to change the line today to 1/4th since the fitting is 1/4th and i will go ahead and give that a try
yeah, i bought bigger vacuum fittings and bigger vacuum line and it works perfectly now. it actually closes as well as it goes into boost now.In my experience the BOV needs a good vacuum reference. I had the same issue but went back to my old setup and it fixed the issue.
Can’t beat that pricei got it for free from a buddy since he totaled his truck, if not, tial would have been my first option
