Just revving the engine got me laid in college. No joke. Granted I knew her through friends for a couple of years but we never came close to intimate. We were studying late so there wasn't a soul around when we left. That wonderful sound of Ford's pushrod 302 paired with L/T headers and flowmasters makes a hell of a tune... she asked if we could f**k in my car while it idled. Who am I to say no?
Me too! Ah, the good ole days of me and Rosie...

I have to disagree. It is about maturity and registering the new driver in driver control events. I bought my son a brand new Subaru WRX when he was 17. He is 21 now and the car doesn't have a single ding and no tickets. He has only put 18k miles on it in 4 years though....helps to live close to the university. My insurance did go through the roof though....that dang Subaru insurance still costs more than the insurance on my Vette.

I would normally agree....but only the parents really almost know their own kids. I do agree that there are probably some that should be given a riding lawn mower as their first vehicle. :)

No offence, but a ANY new car for a 15 year old is a bad idea! A mustang for a new driver is an even worse idea. 15? What’s the minimum age for driving where you are? Here in Ontario with graduated driving a new driver can’t drive alone until they get their G2 and that’s 9 months after they get their G1.

My guess is the car will be in a few fender benders and / or trashed and abused as well. As a parent of a 19 year old girl and a 17 year old boy, my advice is good luck! Like most things, unless they have skin in the game and aren’t just handed things, pride and respect of ownership is lacking shall we say.
Your mileage may vary, but if teens there are similar to the rest of the North America...

Good luck!

I mean no I’ll will whatsoever, but I’ve seen first hand how these things go!

I got laid in my Honda in college....lots of time, lots of girlies.

It aint the car, it's the hormones.

Agree. The only attention my car gets me is from other car guys.

I've had sex in several different cars, too. The most fun being this one girl's mini van with tinted windows. The world was our oyster... point was that it was because of the car that this particular hook up happened. Even if she was just lookin for an excuse and it could've been anything, it was still the car.

The 4.6 and the pushrod 5.0 definitely sounded better than the coyote IMO. I rarely found a girl who knew what was what under the hood, but plenty that loved the sound of a v8, especially at an age where fart cans are the predominant form of loud.
Although I couldn't dream of getting that old windsor to coyote power levels while maintaining daily drivability or boosting.

idk... I had a Subaru Outback wagon dog. and I got tonsssss... like... a ton... had a mini airbed in the back of this for a long time. I got 22mpg or so, AWD sucks, but the Subaru wagons went up every single snow covered mountain you could think of.

People make fun of wagons, and how no one likes them, but they really dont give a damn what you drive as long as they like you. and I had a snowmobile, two of them later on, lots of fun.

I don’t know that having a Mustang will help him get girls, but it won’t hurt and if it makes him more confident.....

im sure it won't hurt, we had some rich kids, driving NICE ass cars. I still remember being jealous tbh. they had the cheerleaders that I wanted Lol. The mustang is extremely nice, and its a hot ride. he's going to love it.

That's why I wasn't the biggest fan of the 4.6 even in the DOHC form of the cobra. The tech just wasn't refined enough to work. I got my pushrod 5.0 to 280 whp spending $500 at a junkyard and cannibalizing a 1999 ford explorer. Then I forked over a bit more for better heads, intake, and a mild cam to hit 320 whp. It just never had a chance to shine because I could only play with the rice burners and mid 90s muscle. Although I did enjoy beating new edge and s197 mustangs, with an sn95, than I did any camaro. The look of confusion was worth it all. But this was around a decade ago so it wasn't too long before ls3 and coyote started popping up all over. I miss the sheer ruggedness of it all but not a week went by that I didn't have to fix something. It got old.

It depends on the girl! Although I do worry about how mean spirited other kids can be. I knew plenty of jealous guys, many of which didn't even have a car, that wouldn't hesitate to harass or vandalize. I know it's much easier said than done but your son may benefit from keeping his excitement in check at school. It was always the ones who bragged about their expensive toys that were targeted. But I also went to school with a lot of... well ya.
