Exactly - and then you are well situated to commit that above referenced axe-murder.
Why would anyone commit axe murder if they couldn't live stream it?

How about getting one by figuring the time berween getting the toll booth ticket and stopping to pay the toll. It's pretty straightforward math, and there's no way you could deny it. Hasn't happened to me yet, but....
I tried to avoid that by stopping at a rest area. But I fell asleep. When I got to the exit, they gave me a ticket for driving under the minimum speed.

PAy cash for everything. Do not own a phone. Do not use the internet except for web based browsing at a public source where you are not required to log in. IE: Public library
I might be closer to that level of "technological lifestyle" than most here . . . so the spectre of giving up any more privacy than I have probably feels worse to me than it does to others who have already given up much more of their privacy.

Had to be on the OK turnpike. They are bad at doing that chit. :explode:

That cars collect "black box" data is one thing. Supposedly that data is not retained except in the event of a crash, and only a small amount of data at that.
Apparently the car can store the data for years.
Insecure wheels: Police turn to car data to destroy suspects' alibis

Just a general point. I dont like these practices anymore then most, but when you sign an agreement, such as ToS or a sale contract, legally it is assumed you have read the whole thing an agree with every part of it.

Still lmao over this whole thread. There is no way to stay off the grid now days unless one pays cash, has no phone. Does not use the internet. Walks or rides a bicycle everywhere and, lives in a tent in the woods as a squatter. No mail, nothing ..............

Agreed.
But between staying completely off the grid, and allowing anyone to shamelessly help themselves to your data whenever they feel like it, there's a whole range of intermediary states.

For starters, this forum and others that I am a member of do not get the kinds of information that Ford's telematics system would collect, and as far as I know none of the sites I go to have the ability to track me when I'm on the move. I refuse requests to track my location, which would be transmitted from a laptop that hardly ever leaves the house..

What's a "new header"? Never heard that before in the context of an internet search.

The objection would be about essentially being forced to accept such tracking as a condition of being allowed to buy a Ford vehicle. I don't think that's much different from "we'll sell you this Mustang for $40k, but reserve the right to bill you for more money in the future that you will be obligated to pay".

Chances are pretty good that "the world" knows more about most people than it knows about me.

Disturbing you were able to access data on how much energy he used.

Didn't even read it, right? Not even enough to try to make me look bad for not knowing what a "new header" might be.

As an IT professional, I hate to brake it to you
I wasn't going to point this out before, but in the spirit of "what goes around, comes around" that's the first time I've seen "brake" used where "break" really was the right word.

True this. Even with the collapse of Soviet domination in eastern europe, I can only imagine the amount of private information still in the wrong hands ..............

That's an excellent point Mike. We are so concerned about little old Ford spying on us what about our dear, dear friends in China, Russia, Iran, Iraq, and who knows where else.
