Fast forward to 10:36 and you will see the new lay out. I wish it supported wireless AA.

Sorry, but that is not Sync 4. The gentlemen in the video made a mistake. Maybe in the S650 in 2023. Hopefully by then we will see wireless charging, Android Auto, and CarPlay.

So, my '18 has Sync 3 but apparently an older version. Is it worth updating to the latest version or will it just cause problems?

The only way for you to update to 3.4, without buying a new APIM, is Cyanlabs. Many on here have done it Only a couple have had any issues. There are a few threads on this.

It won't cause any problems, but neither will it give you anything worthwhile. And it looks uglier, especially at night. The night theme is an ugly bright blue. Many people, myself included, hate that. Once you go that route there's no turning back, so if you decide later on that you don't like it, you'll be out of luck. Personally I wouldn't bother. I did it in my Mondeo and regretted it. The 3.0-3.3 interface is much nicer and easier on the eyes.

Hey, what do you have against blue? :cwl: :giggle:

Seriously, if you really hate it, you can change it to Lincoln gray using Forscan.

MSRP of over $60,000 on the window sticker. I nearly choked on my coffee. That is Canada for you. This dealership is local to me, just down the road.

No, nothing against blue itself. Actually it's my favourite colour. I was really close to ordering my Mustang in Kona Blue. In the end I settled for Lucid Red, but it was a very close call. :)
The night theme in V3.4 is too bright though. Too in your face. Too hard on the eyes.

I tried the gray Lincoln theme, but didn't like it either. It's at the other extreme - too bland and featureless, too boring. And the gray clashes with the overall bluish theme of the interior lighting. Plus, it changes the shutdown splash screen and displays a Lincoln logo. You can change the startup splash screen with ForScan, but not the shutdown one.

The classic Sync 3 interface was the best. I want that back.

I actually suspected something like this might be the case.
I generally don't do upgrades but, if there were a compelling reason I would consider it. Since it seems changes make compelling reasons against an upgrade I'll leave well enough alone.

Running Sync3 3.4 on my 2017. Actually fixed the GPS issue with it showing the red mark through the GPS like it was turned off when it wasn't. Only thing I don't have is the box art on music that plays on the radio, but the risk to try to get that through updating the APIM and bricking your module isn't worth it I don't think.

Sync3 3.4 was definitely worth it and improved from the older Sync3 versions.

I personally love the theme of 3.4, but it seems to be hit/miss with some people.
I really don't get why Ford doesn't allow themes to be selectable and somewhat customizable. (ie: which theme in day and which at night)

They include all the other startup/shutdown animations and themes in the files anyway.
If they are packaged together, or modular and referenced is another thing.

This is one thing I find them lacking in both Sync and the digital dash.
They look great, but there is so much potential in offering customizability in theme and colour setting. Everything from the simple look to the animated and funky.

Hopefully that's something coming in future builds of the hardware.
