The 1978 Z28 had the 1978 Mustang whipped!

Yeah I was never a Mustang fan until the s550. Didn't even give them a second look. But this current version is pretty awesome.

Secondly, I like the Coyote more than the LT1. I like how high it revs and how it encourages you to rev it out. I think the Coyote sounds better, too. I like how it wails at high rpms.

Third, this is my daily and I think a Mustang would be easier to live with on a daily basis and take on a long trips.
Coming from EB, I was scared to take my gen3 coyote to redline, and first time I tried, I winced as I swear I was expecting the engine to blow a rod or something. My God does this thing rev!

I also daily even in winter and its soooo easy/comfortable to drive even with MT.

this forum has been surprisingly well mannered about a topic like this. I would have expected a flame war with all kinds of posts getting nuked by admins and whatnot, but this has been very enlightening and entertaining.
I am guessing that many people here are car nuts, not just mustang nuts. I have nothing against camaros/challengers. My take is, let's buy more so the companies will keep making new ones!

Any real car guys that I ran into have their preferences but have never put down my mustang, even when I had EB's

There is only one aftermarket shifter for the Camaro

One of my friends is pretty much FBO for the LT1, ported MSD intake, LTs, full exhaust, CAI and tuned on E. its about 3-4 cars faster than my E tuned GT.

Even the camaro guys like my base interior better.

The camaro does a couple of things really well for a price that most arent willing to pay in terms of harsh ride, uncomfortable interior and low visibility. The mustang does alot of things good while sacrificing things that are easily fixed in the aftermarket. That is why i think that the mustang has been dominating the camaro in sales since the 6g camaro came out.
that just isn't true..there isn't only one aftermarket shifter for the camaro.

the camaro seems to respond better to FBO than the current mustang. Mustang does well on e85 though, so that's not surprising. Boost is where the coyote shines vs the camaro

I do not know how anyone would like the base gt interior over the 1le interior. Recaro seats, alcantara steering wheel and shift knob, and a screen instead of the calculator screen? I have the premium package on my gt and myself and my lady both liked the 1le interior more. Bullitt or equivalent interior vs 1le I can see how it is more down to preference at that point. the HUD on the camaro is very nice too.

I don't understand the visibility thing, im 6'4 and see just fine. The rear isn't even bad either (especially if you have the camera rear view mirror...its kind of trippy to me so im not sure if I like or hate it, but its an option), and neither is the ride quality. Of course im coming from a honda s2000 not long ago so the comparison is a bit different. The mustang is pretty great all around though. My mustang is 18 10r80 premium with a supercharger and a lot of suspension goodies, but with the prices of the ss 1le camaro im still considering it. Especially after test driving it. Partly because I miss a manual, but also because the car felt great. Having a warranty for my upcoming cross country drive will be nice as well.

the mustang has always been dominating the camaro in sales for the past 10 years, not just with the 6g.

Lol. Me too every time it goes to 7500 rpms in drag mode on shifts. Most push rod motors are on limited time with valve lift and cam specs to rev that high. Unless it is a billet/nascar style motor.

I didn't get a Camaro because good quality '67 convertibles are hard to find.

Kinda like this one If I could go to the dealer and buy one of these it would be a no-brainer.

Ive owned Fbodies since a teenager and even a C5 recently but always loved Mustangs since I was a kid w/ the original 5.0 days. Could finally afford a new one and it was time for change. Plus the Velocity blue w/ the black accent package sold me.

It wasn't just Ford. 1974 was a really depressing year for cars, and there were still more to come. They hadn't put cats on cars yet and EFI was a dozen years off. We all thought it was the end of the world. CATS? No, I'm not nuts. Those things and EFI saved cars. Don't ever forget it.

I had a pretty mint and original 67 camaro 327 powerglide with 33k original miles given to me as a Xmas gift back in 1988. Red on red with factory A/C. Give my left nut to have that one back...

Im torn between the 2020 Mustang GT and the 2020 Camaro SS both in A10 variants. And both seem to be very close in many aspects. I plan on asking this question on a camaro forum, but the other way around. But Im curious about those that shopped both seriously and chose the Mustang in the end. Lets not use the "visibility" argument though. I've driven both extensively and that isnt a problem in the camaro, at least not for me. What else prevented you from getting the camaro? Was it price, availability or was it options?? Lets have a real conversation without a flame war starting. Thanks.
Before I bought my bullitt, I drove the Camaro and Challenger extensively.

No question the Camaro was a better track and driver's car, but I didn't like the style especially of the interior, low quality and claustrophobic interior, wonky controls, and weird cartoon car/hotwheels styling. As much as I loved the Challenger, it was just a little too big and Boaty. I also cross shopped the M2 and M4, Supra and a couple other coupes/2 doors.

The Mustang was a good/best balance of all for my needs, and the Bullitt hit the sweet spot. If Ford did not have that model, and I bought American, it would have been the Challenger hands down. I love most of the styling and proportions of the Mustang with the exception of the front clip I don't like all the sharp jutting edges and wish it was smoother and better integrated.

But truth be told, it would have been a HARD sell to bring myself to buy anything from the corporation that killed Oldsmobile Pontiac Saab and Saturn, especially Oldsmobile. #unforgiveablesin :-)
