This thread is pretty great. I'm curious to see where the C6G version goes.

For some reason I associate passenger-side fuel doors with boring cars. Every econobox I've been around has it on right, and every sporty/sports/performance cars has had it on the left.
well, the new m2, m4, and supra have it on the right side.

Must be econoboxes then :cwl:
no, it has to do with the predominant market and which side they drive on. Ecoboxes are designed for world-use which is biased for RHD. Japan is RHD so it's natural for right side for any cars coming out of there.

In terms of aftermarket, if you are referring to engine/tuning/horsepower, I would disagree. The LT1 engine has all the options for full bolt-on power you could ever want. There are all manner of blowers, turbos and engine boltons.
from what ive seen, the lt1 responds better with an NA build than the coyote, the coyote responds better with a boosted build than the lt1. both perform and sound great

if I do end up getting the camaro, something like this is in my future (ss 1le instead of zl1 though).

is it considered "upbadging" if its my name? :cwl:

Honestly a 1le manual c6 camaro is a better track car than a pp1 or pp2 manual imo. Now I’d take a Mach one w/ tremec over any of them for road course duty. Still take my now ancient 18 pp1 E85 a10 bolt on car for outright acceleration in straight line... ;).

Yes, Japanese cars are econoboxes. GT-R, basically a turbo Maxima. LFA? Camry with a v10. Supra? Not even Japanese.
huh? How does 'ecoboxes are world cars' and favor world driving bias become the Japanese only make ecoboxes? Maybe put down the keyboard long enough to read what I actually wrote?

Oops I was wrong about the distribution of RHT vs LHT.

So I'm back to it's "random" chance which side the gas port is on as the collective ecosystem tries to equalize access to gas pumps when everyone pulls in facing the same direction.

The camaro guys seem to like the look of the camaro better than the mustang. And honestly a nice 2SS with the ground effects looks MONEY. I like the mustang look, but I was one of those 2018 haters at first when it started to resemble a catfish. Ironic that its now the new catfish, compared to the 2002 camaro that was the original catfish...lol

I need to go drive them both again. And see what deals can be had. Im in florida and here the dealer fees are wild and uncontrolled, so I might have to get on a plane and find one to drive back from another state. Most dealers here charge TTL+doc fees and a ridiculous $1000 dealer fee on top of all that. Plus the Tag is like $500 for a new one. I will be trading in an older nissan SUV, so I wont have to pay all that but still if you need a new tag. All in you are at almost $2k with just dealer and DMV fees, not even including tax. Anything less than a $5k down payment just gets all sucked up by fees. Sucks. One of the few things about FL that sucks honestly. Did I say it was sunny and 75* today...lol

I had just bought a GT PP1 and went to drive a SS/1LE. The Ford was so obviously an inferior car it wasn't funny. Yes the interior of the Mustang is more accommodating and flexible than the Camaro but I care about only one thing - the driver's seat. I threw money at the Mustang to bump it up and kept both. IMO that's the best combo, one of each.
I did and have owned several Camaros.. Although they are superior for track use I didn't find the latest versions to be anything special over a mustang with just a simple road test. They lack character. That raw American muscle feel. Wasn't impressed with the idling truck sound everyone seems to be enthralled with. They don't start sounding good until you really mod them into oblivion but then those ls engines are unbeatable but that's $$$$$.

Thing is most people who buy American muscle cars don't care about euro racing. That's a very small subset of people who salivate over euro racing trims like gt350 or L1E trims.

Everyone has touched upon the Camaro's interior, visibility, and limited back seat & tight trunk space so I won't bother.

Some background so you understand my perspective-
My 1st 'muscle' car was a '78 Z28. Loved the heck out of that car as it was my entry vehicle into American muscle but in truth, that car was a pig- large, wieldy handling, questionable brakes and an engine barely putting out 200 HP, although it sounded great.

The 1978 Z28 had the 1978 Mustang whipped!

One beef with my 5th gen was the retro look aged poorly and quickly. This S550 is gorgeous especilly with it's sweeping roof line. And the sound of the Coyote when hauling OMG!
This is something I heard the camaro guy (who actually likes 5g over 6g) said. That the design for some reason doesn't look like it will hold up to the times as well. I have B&O audio, thought I'd need it as I always played on my shaker in the '15&'17 EB's. I couldn't tell you how my audio sounds as I haven't played music loud yet,and when I do, I keep the volume REALLY low, and crack my windows open, in sport+ exhaust mode.
