My oldest son has a Focus RS. It is very close to my GT convert until higher speeds. Ride is awful, though.

coming from the ST/RS community the RS is pretty quick, but for one to keep up with a bolt on coyote, especially a 18+ car, would definitely require a turbo upgrade. Stock turbo will take them to 385-390ish whp on e30/40 and they weigh 3500 lbs.
Last one I had in front of me showing off spun his tires pretty badly from a 40 rol, once he got traction he was quick. Same day I went up against a boosted gen 2 mustang and focus was quicker to 100 in my opinion. the focus had to have had a massive turbo.

It most certainly did. They’re pretty good up to about 75-80 and then the pretty much fall on their face. My old ST was full bolt on max effort stock turbo and it made 301/410 on e40. It pulled pretty strong up to about 60, it took about 1.5x longer to go from 60-120 as it does 0-60.

A stock Focus RS is 350 crank hp and weighs 3417-3460 lbs. Car and Driver ran 13.4 @ 105 mph, and MotorTrend went 13.3 @ 103.3 mph. Definitely quicker and higher trap speeds than an Ecoboost Mustang, but quite a bit slower than even an M6 2018+GT, which traps 115 mph, and much slower than an A10 GT (119-120 mph for the A10). However, an M6 GT and RS with similar drivers aren't that different 0-60 because of the AWD in the RS (4.3 seconds in the M6 '18+ GT vs 4.6 in the RS with a good driver).

If you are an M6 and went to redline in 4th and he was only 2 cars behind then either he was making a decent amount more power than factory or you were granny shifting! If you are an A10 (I get the impression you're M6 talking about doing a 3rd gear pull, but not sure), and he hung with you through 4th gear (95-100 mph in a PP1), then he's surely making a lot more power than stock.

My wife had an RS for 3 years before some tool backed into it totaling it. That car was amazing. Handled like it was on rails, sounded great, and launched hard. With winter tires it was a cat in the snow. The Adrenaline Academy really helped me appreciate the RS. You could definitely get caught out in it as there was a bit of lag and unless you launched it didn't really feel fast until 3rd gear but a great car. The thing with an RS is it always has traction. That's probably it's biggest advantage over the Mustang. The stiff ride people complain about never bothered my wife or our now 2 year old son.

I don't put too much stock into magazine times anymore. My wife has a Stinger GT now and the knuckleheads in that community posts videos of them walking 5.0s more regularly that you would think. I'm not saying the Stinger or the RS is quicker by any means just that weird crap happens on the street.

It's the manual, and I have the FP tune. Fourth gear took us well beyond 100 mph lol. Third gear is around 115, I think, with the 3.73s. I think the consensus is that he wasn't stock. I passed him without any issue in first. The winter tires I'm using let me put my foot down without spinning, I love it!

That reminds me of a video I saw where a Mustang was beat by a charger and the Mustang driver threw a temper tantrum. It was him and two of his friends in the car and none of them were exactly in shape. But the fact that he was 700+ lbs heavier than he wanted to be didn't even cross his mind.

At the end of the day, I didn't lose. I passed him without much effort in first. I'm just genuinely surprised and impressed that I didn't gap him.

I could have gotten more out of my Fiesta, but I opted for a balance of reliability and power. I know a girl in Texas that's got IIRC over 80,000 miles on her Fiesta and she's got 385+ wheel hp.

I just posted the price of the turbo for comparison sake. A typical blower is 7k on up. To make good power with the Ecoboost platform, you'd also need an aftermarket intercooler ($650.00 on up), Accessport ($600.00), Tune ($450.00-$600.00), Aux fuel in either a single port or four port ($950.00-$1400.00). Grand total for necessary components is, $4500.00 at the low end. A downpipe and exhaust would run the total higher.

When I said hybrid, I meant in terms of turbo. A hybrid is a stock turbo with the compressor case enlarged to accept a bigger impeller. It's also got a larger turbine wheel and uprated bearings. The turbo I mentioned for $1800.00, is a Precision brand turbo.
Ah, for sure. I've never owned a car with a turbo or upgraded to one so my knowledge of them is a bit basic. Thanks for teaching me something new!

Pogo stick suspension and "Lose some weight, ya fat bastard" Recaro's. Gotta be a lean and mean to be fine in those.

As far as the suspension, according to this article, he switch to KW Coilover's and 18's (like 4/5's down the article), while I'm sure there's a zillion aftermarket seats to fix them.

Still, went to the dealer to get my old girl and semi raced one, the lighter weight and awd left my auto 'vert in the dust

I love my 2018RS - one of the best cars I've ever owned. Mine is stock except for a 93 tune - achieved by throwing 2 gals of E85 per fill up with 91. It probably picked up 50 hp and 50 tq with that alone. It is fast, handles great, shifts great, and in a driving rain storm at 125 mph I had total confidence in the car. The fit and finish are quite good and the Nitrous Blue "quadcoat" is probably the best quality paint on any car I've owned.

Also, being a 2018, my car came with the Quaife LSD and the "right" head gasket - Ford.

I owned a 2017 RS for a few years. It was definitely a fun vehicle to DD. But I wouldn't consider it, in stock form, anywhere close to an 18+ GT. I'm sure modified it becomes a different beast. But that can be said for any modified vehicle. The best part of the RS was the AWD system and the twinster rear end. Unfortunately though, I became the victim of the head gasket issue and traded it in.

I have a old Lincoln MKS with a twin turbo 3.5 all wheel drive and with just a tune has 450hp. From a light this thing leaves a lot of cars in the dust and runs mid to high 12s in the 1/4 mile. Its a boat and is heavy but still fun to drive and the look on on some faces at the next light, Priceless P.S watch out for some of those Taurus SHO`s too!

But I remember being amazed with how quick it was and how great it sounded.
If this is true I wonder why they couldn't get the Ecoboost Mustang to sound better. It is awful.
