Yes.The word is GM’s C8 is getting a larger displacement flat plain crank for the ZO6.
Heard anything?
Please tell me you're joking...close your eyes and it sounds almost no different from a 458 Italia.Watching this video, it doesn't sound FPC to me, it's too high for FPC sound.
Thanks for the info @nastang87xx .I was not aware of the correlation between displacement versus stroke and bore in an FPC configuration. Please tell me you're joking...close your eyes and it sounds almost no different from a 458 Italia.
And that video...goddamnit people. BIG DISPLACEMENT DOESN'T CAUSE ISSUES WITH FLAT CRANKS. BORE AND STROKE RATIO DOES. MOST FPC ENGINES HAVE A SHORTER STROKE THAN BORE AND THAT IS NOT HOW THE VOODOO ENGINE IS CONFIGURED.
Part of the unique GT350 sound is also due to the unequal length headers and the engine's location in the front of the car (longer exhaust). The C8R has a flat plane crank engine. Of course they will be putting it in a Z06. With twin throttle bodies, a flat plane crank will sound like a Ferrari and with a single throttle body it will sound like a GT350 because they can change the firing order.
This is why when I finally pull the trigger I will be going with an American Racing system as their equal length headers bring the 350 up an octave level and give it such a unique sound. The Ferrari and the 350 have different firing orders and the Ferrari uses equal length headers to get the scream sound....the first 350 iterations of the 5.2 test engines used the equal length headers too and sounded very similar to the Ferrari.....but they (Ford) thought it was too close, so they went to unequal length headers on the 350 to get a more American sounds.
Correct. Shorter strokes GENERALLY allow for more crank stability as well. Theoretically, an LS3 or LT1 has a more suitable bore and stroke ratio than the Voodoo. The Voodoo's bore and stroke is basically square. Thanks for the info @nastang87xx .I was not aware of the correlation between displacement versus stroke and bore in an FPC configuration.
My point was that z06 on the video sounded different than gt350. An I said that's because exhaust design differently. And no, I wasn't joking. Please tell me you're joking...close your eyes and it sounds almost no different from a 458 Italia.

How is that square?Correct. Shorter strokes GENERALLY allow for more crank stability as well. Theoretically, an LS3 or LT1 has a more suitable bore and stroke ratio than the Voodoo. The Voodoo's bore and stroke is basically square.
He means it narcs on the cool kids for smoking weed and does well in math ...How is that square?
Voodoo engine Bore x Stroke: 3.70" x 3.66" (94 mm x 93 mm)
