Active exhaust: yay or nay?

From what I remember from test drives I would say it is not in the middle closer to normal level. Not as loud as Sport+ that's for sure

I'll chime in. My current 19' GT has active exhaust. My previous 2018 GT did not. I LOVE the active function. Granted mine is modified (Borla S type active mufflers, and an X pipe). I leave for work super early, by 6 am. Having the ability to start up in quiet, then once out of the neighborhood switch to track, is well worth the price to me. Even with the Borla/X setup, quiet is a HUGE difference when compared to track. Stock AE was similar. Quiet mode is really quiet. It's nice having the ability to change on the fly though. I will say on long road trips my significant other appreciates it when I put it in quiet mode on the interstate. So as someone who has owned both, I promise you that you won't regret getting active exhaust.

I love the active exhaust feature. I ordered the car with it. I will say that 99% of the time I’m in track mode and with an x-pipe it sounds amazing. Quiet mode is awesome on longer highway drives though if you just have the cruise control set. It’s very quiet. I don’t regret it one bit, especially for the price.

I'm the minority, I have AE w/ a Roush X-Pipe. My exhaust is always set to track mode. I don't personally notice much of a difference between normal, sport+ & track to be honest. I will eventually end up with Corsa or Borla AE. My previous car had a Roush X-Pipe w/ AWE touring axle backs. That sounded absolutely perfect to me. The car does have a note to it, but it's pretty quiet in my opinion.

For frame of reference, decibels is a logarithmic scale so every 10 dB is twice as loud loud. At 110 decibels and over other sounds can’t really be heard. A 1 dB change in a sound equates to about a 25% increase in sound energy. A 3 dB difference is actually a doubling of energy level. In subjective terms of loudness, a 1 dB change yields about 7% change. A 3 dB change yields a 100% increase in sound energy and just over a 23% increase in loudness so you can see how much louder Sport is from Quiet at the 113 dB level. Good thing we are in front of the exhaust as anything over 85 dB can damage hearing.

If you can think of any situation in which you will need "quiet mode" get it. I have it on my GT and use it almost everyday due to neighbors, LE...etc.

With the stock resonator in place and active exhaust I’ll be honest I couldn’t tell a significant difference between normal, sport, and track. At least from inside the car. However, the difference between quiet and any other mode was very significant. So like Mrzero said, if you can think of any time you’ll use quiet mode, for sure get it. Once I installed an x-pipe the difference between modes became much more prevalent and quiet mode is still quiet. I took a video of my car yesterday to highlight the differences.

Active exhaust is one of my favorite options. I can't imagine not having it. Take the resonator out and put in an H-pipe and it's perfect!

Have to agree. That combo is perfect.

Delete the resonator and you need ae, if and only if it’s your daily.
