Just got new wheels, Need help with tires.

255/45-18 or 275/40-18 for a 9.5?

In the same boat. Have EC-7 in 18x9.5. My JDM friends (nissans, Acuras, etc) say just run the stock 235/50r18 on them, it would be a tiny stretch.
I don't know about that. There seems to be more selections at the 255/45 range though. Discount tire doesn't have either in stock for me in store so they have to be ordered.
I had got my 235/50 from discount just months ago so they're still fairly new. I get some buy back on them, so hence I went to them to see their options.

When I moved from 8" to 9.5" wheels I went from 235 to 275 width tires. I would not go narrower than 255.

For 9.5" wide wheels on a Mustang in street driving with little or no road course running, you're probably best off improving things like turn-in crispness and steering precision rather than best possible grip.

I'd suggest either 255/45's or 265/40's for 18x9.5's for that kind of driving. I'd much rather see 275/40's on 10" wides.

yeah. 255/45 or 275/40 is what is suggested on the apex fitment guide. So those are the two sizes I'd been looking at. I think the 275 will affect the speedometer by being 1mph slower or so.

265/40 isn't something i've considered. I'll look into it. Discount will give me back about $60 for my Pirelli's i got in Oct, they were 175 each. lol. So for me, I'm considering selling off the tires with the factory wheels.

235/50-18 runs at 27.2" i think. So 1in drop!

hey if guys be running 33 and 35 inch tires on trucks to get a lift, slightly smaller tires for that lowered look works too! lol

About an inch on the diameter is evenly split between reduced ground clearance (lowering by tire size) and the to fender gap. Half an inch more fender gap isn't even all that bad once the car has been lowered a bit in the suspension.

FWIW, the 305/30-19 that the PP2 runs is 26.2" tall.

And I'm running 285/35-18's on my S197 which also came OE with 235/50-18's. 25.9" tall, primarily intended for road course duty but still perfectly DD-able.
