I'm looking to install a roll bar in my 350R, I've looked at CMS Performance and Watson. Does anyone have any experience installing either ones and the pros or cons to either or any other recommendations?

thanks,

I would go with the fathouse fab kit 10 times out of 10 if it comes to a prebent kit. It tucks beautifully up into the roofline and a pillars to where you barely know it's there.

I'm selling one, but that had nothing to do with my statement above

I have a Watson 6 point for sale. It's at Fathouse Fabrication outside of Indy. Was in the car a very short time, I went with a full cage. I'll give you a great deal if you're interested.

If price is no object and you want the lightest 4 point available, call Frank at Watson. They are more expensive than the standard DOM 4pt cages, but you save about 30 pounds. He may have a few of the one off cages left that I spec'd and they built. If you want a normal DOM 4pt Watson cage in red, I have one in the classifieds. If you don't want to buy mine, then find your best deal online and buy a Watson. You will not regret buying a Watson cage. They are the best engineered, built and are an industry favorite for a reason.

Here is the link to my cage for sale. I opted to buy two of the lightweight cages and sell my like new cage that was installed in one of my R's. Either buy mine or buy another Watson cage. I wouldn't get anything else.

I have the CMS Performance roll bar installed in my 2019 GT350R painted in matching Oxford White. fits very well, good quality. I had it installed at a local shop. I certainly would recommend it. The Watson roll bar is also high quality.

thanks Tomster,

I might consider yours if it's still available but one of the big differences I "THOUGHT" I noticed between the CMS and Watson was you had to cut out some of the side panels with the Watson and didn't with the CMS. I've got an R so the rear seat isn't an issue and I realize with either you need to cut some of the carpet. I was hoping not to have to cut up the plastic side panel though.

As far as I know, the Watson is superior in every way. The reason I say this is because of the attachment points. The rear support bars are bolted to a structural beam that goes across the trunk area underneath the car. I don't think any of the competition secures all 4 points to structural members. If the points are not, then what's the point?

As for the trim pieces that have to be cut, that really isn't a big deal. I found a junkyard that had a mustang GT laying around and bought the panels. I think both cost me $50. I don't recall cutting carpet. I believe maybe a small piece of the rear seat delete, but no carpet.

Don't bother to put a cage in your car unless that cage is going to protect you. Analyze every aspect of each cage and make an informed decision before you buy. I did, and I go with Watson for a very good reason.

Not trying to argue for one or the other, but I did crawl under the car to check out the attachment points of the rear CMS kickers and that part of the car does have reinforcement plating that appears to be part of the subframe connection. It isn't just sheet metal.
I originally bought the CMS because it was the lightest at the time, but it's going to be awhile before I can think about anything track related so I was going to try to sell it and go with the Tom-spec Watson since that's now lighter than CMS and would probably be easier to weld in. The CMS is Docol R8 which requires a TIG weld if you decide to weld instead of bolt it in.

Thanks again, good points and I need to dig a little deeper.
