I wanted to experiment with a taller shift knob so decided to get a 3 inch extender from eBay. I have noted on my rally cars and sports cars the shift rods are longer so the drivers hands don't have to travel much from the knob and back to the steering wheel.
I am enjoy shifting this way. Anyone else experienced a taller shift knob?

What ever floats your boat. That would just make the throw between gears too long for me. I like short shifts.

The 1988 Yugo had a shifter taller than that, you should look at junk yards for one.

Am I the only one that actually likes the stock shifter lol. I think its great the only issue I have is how notchy it is. I'm about to try the weighted shift knob but my stock shifter is pretty good.

Not to hijack this thread, but I have a weighted shift knob and it makes the shifts much more enjoyable...just saying....I have the Shift Solutions CS knob (510 grams, 1.12 lbs) and I really like it....

I am with you on this, I have always found my shifter to work very well. Yes, notchy when cold, but as the MT82 warms up, it is fine. My car was built on Thursday though... so hmmm

Shifting into reverse must be awkward. Don't you have to lift up on that ring at the top of the boot to get the car into reverse?

I actually like my shifter. I had 3 corvettes and replaced the shifters with MGW's. I don't feel the need to do it with the GT.
Mine was also built on a Thurs.

OOOHH ! I like the look of that tall shifter from E-bay. I was thinking about getting a reproduction Dodge slapstick shifter. I prefer leverage over short throw.

Can you upload a picture..I have a 700 gram SSCO knob which is good but it's too big and bulky.
