After i bought a 19 GT with a10 and pp1 plus active exhaust, i wouldn't give up any of those options. Throw in a Steeda stop the hop kit and you are starring at 47gs. Still a heck of a deal, just starting to get more expensive than a lot of guys are willing to budget for. One last thing. I would probably opt for the steel oil pump gears which would more than likely cost 1,000? Then add better axle shafts to round out the package. Oh, forgot to add new con rods and forged pistons. Now it is close to 50gs plus 4,000 tax/lic fees. But you could go WAY past 700 hp, especially if the fuel system was upgraded to use e85.
Ok, i am just a bit hp crazy.

The trick is.....to get someone in your area to offer a package like this. So you can actually utilize the warranty. Towing a car all the way to Ohio or Tennessee would suck ass for most folks! If something broke.

Yea for for sure... in our area, Downs Ford used to be the go to for Ford Motorsport (then Ford Racing) items when Joe Amato was running the Parts area... that would be killer if Downs would offer such S550 packages. I believe Winner Ford in Cherry Hill used to be another go to for ‘Ford Motorsport’ back in the day too...

Lebanon ford is who installed my ford tune, pretty legit dealership. Had almost one hundred gt’s in the lot.

really nice guys. Only charged me like 80 to install my tune lol. They don’t even sell ecoboost but I drove down to get the tune since none of my dealers would install it.

I bought my 2019 from Beechmont Ford in Ohio with the following and it was still a lot less than a new base corvette.

301A Car
10R80
Black Accent Package
Active Exhaust
Billet oil pump gears and crank sprocket
Whipple 3.0L stage 2 w/132mm TB / 3.5 griptech pulley
Texas Speed full length catless headers and xpipe
Fore Level 2 fuel system with dual 267’s and filters setup for e85
Injector Dynamics ID1050x port injectors.
NGauge programmer
E85 tune by Lund
UPR Whipple Catch Can

Beechmont will do Roush, Whipple, Hellion, whatever you want to dream up, turn key. And for someone that either doesn't have the skills or time (my case), you get something ready to go and if you need to, can even roll it all into your car note.

So nice to have the options you have over there with warranties, I would be all over it :D

Here we have a few shops that can do an install but you have to pay near 15K USD for e.g. a Paxton and no warranty that is on top of the list price of around 47K USD for a PP1 (manual none Magneride) car.

there are several dealers who do this promotion. The catch is the 39995 price is for the basic bare bones nothing gt with a supercharger. You know the gt no one ever buys and it sits on the lot for 3 years. The ploy is they make you this offer for the super charger you come in and then you leave with a car more like 50k because the base one sucks other then the 700hp. its just like everyone getting excited over the 59995 corvette. Yeah right the one that cost 59995 is the basic nasty no comfort version they will only make 6 of in the world just so they can say starting at 59995.
This;

We've discussed such cars before. It's all smoke & mirrors. The $40K car would be absolutely ridiculous, with the base suspension, base interior, base everything.

The base car is gonna have issues trying to handle 700HP.

And let's face it, CNET is not journalism. It's marketing masquerading as journalism.

But it gives you a great starting point. How many people will go get a car, then pay a shop to do all that work after the fact? You don't have to use a base model, but for the people that want power at a bargain price or are looking for a drag only car, that's a good option.

Is it a marketing strategy? Of course, but smoke and mirrors? That's a bit far fetched. Most people don't get the base, the dealer actually said that. I picked out exactly the car i wanted then added the options i wanted.

I had them do all the engine work, because I frankly don't have the time, then added the suspension pieces, wheels and drivetrain parts. I drove the car 1000 miles with stock everything and 800whp. Is it sketchy, of course, but fun and with the nannies engaged, fairly harmless.

You are missing the point here. This is the 60's horsepower wars all over again. Now we're getting dealer prepped cars like they used to do. It's a hell of a time to be alive.

That's not a catch, that's the reality of it. Do you really expect them to throw $10K worth of parts at a 30K car and it be fully loaded? That's just ridiculous. Marketing? yes, catch? hardly. They make you fully aware that the price is for a base model. And actually if they have a completely base one on the lot that hasn't sold and you want a supercharger added, you'll get a better price than $40K.

Base or not - that type of “stripped” down S550 package is what the guy wants who will be taking it to weekend track days. Why get a fully loaded totally optioned out “pig” of a car when most who do are then trying to lose the weight?

Sure it’s “base” but many of us on here know for a fact that aftermarket or upgraded parts can be sourced quite easily; most folks in this hobby do source out perfectly fine used parts at a fraction of the cost of the same new to save money.

It’s really a great package for that guy who wants the forced induction, it didn’t take up time to do the DIY R&R in their car port, driveway or garage, they didn’t have to “figure it out” AND it’s all under warranty.

There’s pros and cons to everything if wanting to get deep in the weeds about it.
