MPSS 275/35/19 vs 275/40/19

I see a lot of folks going with 275/35/19. My stock tires are 255/40/19. Any reason to go with 275/35/19 with my new wheels(SVE GT350 19x10). My car is a 2016 GT stock suspension and is non PP.

I have your same wheels from SVE and went 275/35/19 Michelin PSS. Pic below for reference. IMO you could do 40 profile if you were stock height. I'm also non PP.

275/40R19 is taller than the stock diameter (+2.3% taller than stock)) in the front, and IIRC the speedometer is off the front wheels, so your speedo could be off a little if you went with the 275/40R19. 275/35R19 is a little small (-1.7% smaller than stock)

For a 19x10, a 285/35R19 fits well (-0.7% smaller than stock diameter)

why not do a 285/35/19? that's the size I run up front on my gt350 SVE wheels, fits perfectly!

If you plan on staying at stock ride height, I’d go with the 275/40

I went with 275/35R19 for my winter tires because I have 305/30R19 on my PP2. They are just 0.19" or about 4.8 mm taller in ride height (radius) than the 305/30. Smallest width tire that would fit the stock rims also.

Speedo compensates for the change with the wheel sensors. Witnessed on my 2017 and now my 2019. Radar verified on both. Went from stock to 275/40/19 - speedo was dead on as before tire / wheel change. Which funny enough is actually 2-3 mph SLOW versus Radar.

Tire selection is better in 275/35. And there is no 285, 295, 305/40 so if you run a staggard setup, your have to go 35.
