Looks like I need to focus on a ZL1... For at least around $40K less(that's another nice car price) I could get great performance machine. Same level as the GT500? Probably not but at least I can afford it. Used ZL1s under 10K miles can be found for $60K.

I’m not one of those “I’d rather buy a GT and put a whipple on it” guys, but at these prices I think I’d rather buy a GT and put a whipple on it.
Or A GT350R and put a Whipple on it.

I believe I checked every box (with the exception of painted on stripes $10K, vinyl stripes $1K, side stripes $375) and mine came out to $96,980. The Handling package is N/A if you are getting the CF track pack.

I'm hoping I didn't miss anything.
Interesting that we both spec'd out this car exactly the same and based on your information I stand corrected with an MSRP of $96,980.

:)

The only thing that isn't on the paper is the weight of this thing. Which for some reason nobody wants to talk about. Maybe when one of you guys get one of these you can throw it on a scale so everyone will know.

With this pricing it makes you wonder how many GT500's will be sold but with only 1250 CF Track Pack cars being made the rich guys with lots of money should snatch those up fast. Ford just might get close to 5000 units.

That's the same thing Ford did when they came out with the S550 in late 2014

A used, low mileage ZL1 (non-1LE) you should be able to score in the low 50s. You could probably find a new ‘18 for under $60K.

Pulley, TB, tune and headers and you’ve got a 750-780 HP ride

At those prices it really needs to deliver the goods. Hopefully it is as good a performance/emotional bargain as the GT350 was. I was originally skeptical of the looks, but they have really grown on me. Car looks mean, purposeful, but graceful at the same time. Power is certainly there. Weight will likely be a concern, but handling should be very good. I still doubt it will be as fast as a ZL1-1LE, but it should be darn close to command those price levels.

I never understood the rental car flap. You can rent anything at rental car agency: Mercedes, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini so literally everything classifies as a rental car—even supercharged Shelby Mustangs, so I don’t understand.

And the GT350 and GT500 are bespoke cars, the only parts they share is the body.

It was obvious that the price of the carbon package would be up in the 90-100k range, especially when you throw in ADM—you’re talking 120-140k, some dealers will be asking.

If the GT500 on the track can compete with the Porsche GT2RS, then I say it’s worth that price point being that the other runs for 400-500k.
The point is, it's not only sharing the body with a $25,000 car, it's the whole platform and interior, they are not bespoke cars. AMG GT is a bespoke car since its on its own platform. And the gt500 is not touching a gt2rs.

That's what you get for crippling a sports car, with that garbage torque converter. A torque converter has no place in a performance car.

The 7th Generation Corvette was a huge disappointment, and a disgrace to GM, along with the 6th generation Camaro
Except the c7 has been by far the best performing and best selling Corvette, so I don't know where you're coming from with that garbage.

More c6g double talk a rental car is a rental car is a rental car and believe it or not there are camaro rental cars yes I know it hurts residual value.

If bought at the right price, new Corvettes, with little or no options, are the Best Buy you can find.
I've been ordering them like that, and daily driving them, since 1997.
All stick shifts, because sports cars should not be crippled with garbage torque converters
Was it not on your post #71 whereby you mentioned that the 7th generation Corvette was a huge disappointment and a disgrace to GM and here you are now suggesting a short time later that the new Corvettes are the Best Buy that you can find.

Based on your recent posts the C7 Corvettes are a disaster, the 6th generation Camaro's are no better and it's obvious that you have no appreciation or respect for the new Mustangs therefore not sure what motivates you to come on a Mustang forum other than trolling for controversy?

For a guy such as yourself that seems to have been around a long time in our hobby and having owned a great deal of HP automobiles your attitude is something to behold especially when you should know better based on your great deal of interest and experience in our hobby.
