I can't get this bolt to stop spinning when loosing the bolt from behind the caliper. Is there a special tool I need to prevent this bolt from spinning? Thanks

You need to keep the head pushed flush against the caliper as you turn the nut.

Wow, you stripped it out. try wedging a flat head screwdriver in the gap between the bolt and caliper so it cant spin.

Does anybody know what that bolt is called that I stripped? The one in between the the two pins that you have to knock out?. The big bolt that right in the middle?

The problem is that you stripped the metal off of the caliper. If you replace the bolt youre still going to have the same problem next time you need to change the pads. Caliper is about 270ish. You need to find a way to remove it reliably so you dont have to replace anything. Try locking channel locks onto the middle of the bolt or something. I still think spinning it back and wedging something in there like a screwdriver should work.

Yea, turn the head so the flat area is facing the flat recessed area of the caliper, then wedge head screw of driver between the flat recessed area of the caliper and flat edge of the “head”; that may lock it as you try to turn it out from the other side.

The only other suggestions I have would be:

1) Use a Dremel and slot the head, then insert flat head screwdriver into the man made slot to keep it from spinning as you loosen it from other side.
2) Use a powerful drill with carbide tip and drill the head of the bolt off; once head snaps off you can just extract the stud from other side.

New caliper smdh. Damn it. So it's not the bolt that's stripped it's the caliper ?

Correct. That flat spot on the bolt should not be able to move without gouging out the caliper. If you can grab the bolt with another tool, enough to hold it, then you will be practically fine.

Yes, the side of the caliper flat that is designed to prevent the bolt from turning is flogged out a bit allowing it to turn. Turn the bolt until the flat on the caliper and the flat on the bolt are parallel and then wedge the tip of a large flat blade screwdriver in there and then turn the bolt slowly to make it bind, then the nut should come off, don't use a rattle/impact driver, use a hand socket.
