Drag shocks are cheap. And DIY. If you have a little more to spend. Do the struts also. Im thinking about viking crusaders. So you can dial in your launch. I really wish strange made something legit for these cars.
Me too.

My buddy is a strange dealer. I talked to them a while back and not only do they not have anything they said they have no plans anytime soon to offer anything for the s550. seems really strange they aren't going to make anything. LOL pun intended!

Finally got everything lined out and ready to rip the track tomorrow night and see what does or doesn't break. LOL. Hopefully all goes smooth and as expected and not picking up halfshaft pieces.

Jon Jr at Lund has done the tuning as I specifically requested him. Had to work through a little bit of false knock issue, Jon attributed it to blower noise/vibe being picked up since it was very intermittent and lowered the knock sensor sensitivity slightly. Works great now and knock sensors still very active.

Here is the latest street datalog. A bit of tire spin rolling into 2nd, and every shift thereafter. Traction control pulling timing down for a bit, and then limiting top end timing. Rolling into 3rd it throws full 22 or so degrees at it when traction control doesn't intervene. Got one more revision from this to get the 2-3 shift a little sooner. 8,000 and 16 lbs is a little much. LOL. Will have 1-2 data hopefully from the track.

I’m running 305 et street ss also but on an 18” rim. Best I’m getting is a low 1.8 sixty with a 1.7 being very rare.

OP my car trapped 139 the first time out and I was disappointed too.

It has since gone 145 with no changes other than me learning to drive something with 800+ wheel HP.

Unlike you though, our local track prep sucks.

Get to learn the car OP... you’ll get there and the times will drop.

3.55 gear, burnout 3-4 seconds in 3rd gear 5-6K until can just see smoke start rolling. Track temp was pretty decent so didn't need a big smokey burnout.

Appreciate it and everyone saying learn to control it, but I've never had a car had to baby the launch. Just need to do some proper suspension work, and get it on the 2-step so it launches identical every time.

Swap to et street r before you do anything.
This is my next move too. My car is on and will likely stay on stock suspension.

OP a 2 step will help. I just installed one to my brake pedal and am excited to try it out.

I initially had it on a button and it sucked. Too much to think about and I kept screwing up the launch.

I’d save the money on suspension for now. There are guys with 100% stock suspension knocking on 8’s and low 9’s.

Moulton has said many times that the construction of ss vs r is different. The r def works better!

The r is a good tire but u can def cut better then 1.7 60 ft on the 17 in srteet ss.I have 3 buddies on this forum that seen me consistently cut 1.4 60 on the street ss with stock suspension.

Agreed that many run a better short time, but the SS does not seem to be working on his car at that track. Ur running a tighter converter, 315 gear and TT correct? (On phone cant see sig, going off memory). Much different than OP's setup. Plus, he ain't no noob to drag racing. His car is hitting the tire hard enough to overcome tire adhesion, easy fix is add more grip and then see what else the car wants.

Fun money is pretty slim right now so what would you guys suggest out of this list 1 item? Already have steeda cradle bushing lockouts, and diff bushings. will homemake some BMR style cradle lockouts.

1. shocks
2. springs
3. vertical links
4. toe rods
5. send converter back to tighten up
6. 3.15 gears
7. something else.

Again only budget for one of those and prob not even shocks right now.

@beefcake ?
shocks are always my goto, then springs

You are exactly right it never gives the tire a chance. Too much shock of a wall of torque/power hitting it all at once.

Tommy I’ve been 1.59 on this setup before the blower. Need to firm up the cradle compliance BS, and prob shocks to slow down the squat to plant tire longer.

It’s entirely possible the track had some false prep to it as well. If they get the stickum/alcohol mix wrong for the conditions it can seem sticky to your foot, but under pressure and load can actually be pretty greasy. I’m gonna do the cradle parts I already have, make a cb005, and try again when we have a radial tire race/prep. Then hopefully have some fun money for shocks. 1.30’s of the 2 step or bust!

No im running a d1sc,he does have more gearing then me,so that could be some of why he is having a hard time.He can try the street r's they a little better tire then the ss.I also.do not leave on 2step,so if he has a 2step that could be making his car leave a little harder.

Stiffer rear springs and shocks with increased compression settings will put the weight on the tire quicker as it rolls out. As you all know, to make a radial work you need adhesion and put as much weight on the tire as quickly as possible. Even running 28 up front will put a touch more static weight on the rear.
