Thanks for continued feedback and your recommendationDrG! Never heard that one before. Has the cause of the damp been identified?

Dr Grabster,

Just noticed your 'spec'- Indoor swimming pool! :-)
Is this a common problem and what is or even is there a fix? Pretty poor for a modern design, something I'd expect from a car produced 30 years ago!
BTW, Lovely place-Peel in IOM. I used to go there and stay with friends every year for the TT. Get away from all the lunatics in Douglas, hahah.

Re swimming pool - a year ago I had just this, not a pleasant experience I can tell you. As @DrGrabster says - American build quality. Whilst it's not common IMO, there are a fair few of us on this forum that have experienced this with varying seriousness. Mine sadly is on the serious end of the scale & a bodged attempt from a Fordstore last year has left me now in a worse position - but that says more about the dealerships abilities than the quality of the car. In short, don't let that put you off, the vast majority of cars have no issues, but be aware & keep an eye out!

Thanks Kristian. I'vs never dealt with Ford before and hear very mixed reports. When dealing with any dealers who work on 'volume' sales it does not always sit comfortably with me. If I go ahead and buy the car I'm considering it will be with extra warranty which will cover me for the whole of my ownership. Even warranty cover can be contentious but does provide added peace of mind.
Still really keen on getting into a Mustang. Like us all at this sort of money I just want trouble free motoring and enjoy the car. If the dealer wasn't four hours drive away (one way) I'd have gone and given it the once over by now. I am considering an independant inspection, just to move me on my decision process. My local Jag dealer keeps trying to sell me an XK,must be something with me and 5.0 litre V8s' ?!!!:like:

I've not had any issued with mine. As for Ford dealers, use one of the Mustang stores not just any dealer, you can tell within the first 5 mins of talking to someone if they know what they are talking about and worth placing your order with. I had a lot more issues with BMW then I've had with Ford

Thanks Marks. Aye, main dealers can be hit or miss whatever brand. I need to check if this seller is a Mustang dealer and if the one most local to me is. Not found anything online that states this. Probably save time and just get on the phone and enquire if they are. Makes perfect sense and I'd much rather any work is done by a technician who knows the model well.

Last I heard the only Fordstores in Scotland were Parks (Macrae and Dick) in Inverness and Perth, Peoples in Edinburgh and Evans Halshaw in Glasgow.

Thanks SteveS. I'm currently working in Englandshire, just done quick bit of research and have a Fordstore 40 minutes away which isn't bad. Also, checked the dealership selling this car and can see the Group they come under are Fordstore by the look of things. Benefit of being on the site, I wouldn't have known what 'Fordstore' covered 15 minutes ago!
Cheers for the input. BTW, Bon Scott-absolute legend

Fordstores are the dealers authorised to sell the 'flagship' models rather than a trading group. The only dealer I would trust at the moment is not a Fordstore but has knowledgeable, enthusiastic and reliable mechanics who actually seem to care. Best to visit as many as you can, see who you hit it off with and, best of all, word of mouth.

I bought my GT from Parks Inverness. Apart from them messing up on options (they omitted the heated seats) I've not had any real issues with them other than the number plates falling off. First time they sent me to their Honda dealer to refix it 15 miles away against 90. Next time the sent me the double sided tape. Had two services which seem to have been done properly. Neither time did they wash it but that's probably for the best.
My nearest Ford dealer would not even do a headlamp alignment check "we aren't allowed to work on Mustangs". They relented when I asked them if the would do a check on a Vauxhall,. Did it for free but the headlamps are still rubbish poor.

Any Ford dealer can work on your car. All of the work on my car is fine by a non Ford Store. They have looked after all my Ford's and my wifes numerous Fiestas.

I have my service plan with them and they recently fixed a GPS antenna failure. They also put the car back together better than when it left the factory including headlight alignment - something they noticed was wrong and fixed.
