Hi all.
Great forum and brilliant content.
Currently considering a GT, preferably if I get my Audi A7 sold rather than losing out on a trade in!!

I'm seriously considering theactual car in the below link:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classi...rly New&year-from=2016&postcode=hr11ns&page=3

I appreciate car choice is a very individual thing. I've never seen a Grabber Blue in the flesh but any images I've viewed really appeal to me. I've owned over eighty cars now so not uneducated when it comes to buying! I've only had one 15 minute drive in a Mustang (at a dealers) and loved the experience albeit I would have preffered an hour to really put the car to the test.

I'd really appreciate any opinions and views/info on the car in the link. Do think it is priced correctly? Will prices be affected come March and the new reg? Be even better if the previous owner was a member of this forum!?

Any other pointers will all be absorbed and greatly received.

I've been in comms with the dealers a couple of times now and have a fairly decent readout of some of the detail and background. It has had one previous owner from new and has been serviced annually x2 services so far.

Have looked at other makes but every time I see a Mustang there is nothing else compares with its presence!

Thanks for reading my post and best regards.......

Hi and welcome

Would of thought it’s about right in price as my old mustang was advertised for this back in September by the dealer who bought it off me, as mine had same mileage and a few months older, as long as it has all the options, maybe it should be a bit lower but it’s grabber Blue which could hold the price, when you test drive it make sure the aircon works as they are none to fail

It's a personal choice, but Grabber blue is a great colour. I would say that as I have one! Price for a dealer is okay. The thing that puts me off that particular car is the tax. Buying 2nd hand, I'd deffo be looking for one in the £140 bracket. There are plenty around. It'd kill me to be giving the gummint an extra £400 a year extra if I didn't have to. Over the years that's really going to add up.
Oherwise looks like a nice car.

Good to hear you’re opinion on the grabber blue. Not seen many advertised at present. That said I don’t think there is a ‘bad’ colour for the Mustang, unlike most other comparisons in this class where a colour can make or break the car.
The dealer is not moving on price at the moment but it is a fair distance away and I may be able to strike up a better deal if I was stood in front of them firming up a sale.
My only real concern is come March when the new reg comes out the prices will be weakened slightly. Do like the colour and spec of the car. In that dilemma of do I just hold out and see how prices go over next couple of months or just get on with it and have the beast sat in my garage
Thanks for your reply

Morning Count. Good choice of colour
I concur regarding the tax. If it was the only option I’d take the hit but it is painful knowing that a lower bracket car would mean effectively the annual servicing and tax together would still come to less than just the tax for a higher bracket car.
The dealer is happy to take my current Audi A7 in part ex but I may consider holding out and see if my car sells first. I’d then be in a strong position and not be in a rush to buy the Mustang and just hold out with the cash in the bank until another one comes along if this one sells beforehand. I’v rarely ever kept a car standard. My intention with the Mustang will be to fit replacement back boxes ( most likely Borla), Eibach springs and also research and consider a remap.
It would be a massive bonus I could source a good example that already had the same or similar mods already fitted. I do get the feeling most owners who have done some work to their cars probably keep them as a ‘long termer’. Can understand why! I would also be intending changing the tyres if they are Pirelli’s which are fitted to the example I’m currently considering which is another outlay I almost grudge whenever buying a car from a dealer, especially when the rears are brand new and the fronts barely worn

Thanks for your views, all helps my decision process when buying a car/ brand I’m not too familiar with. My last Ford as I recall was an Escort 1600 Sport! Looking at prices now wish I’d kept it!!

Welcome! Great car (love the colour!) and you won't regret choosing a Mustang. They are a thrill to drive and own.
Re the RFL - I agree that any car in the lower (£140) tax bracket is a better bet, both to own AND resell when the time comes. There are plenty out there - suggest camera/parking sensors/navigation/heated & cooling seats - as a minimum spec. Also, you won't be disappointed with the Auto - I am really happy with mine and 6 gears are enough for anybody..! :-)

Hi Rocketman,
Looks like nice car. Fade stripes work well with grabber blue / black wheels combo.
In my opinion it seems a little highly priced. Based on what I bought six months ago; 2018 / 67 plate, triple yellow, shadow edition, automatic, ex demo with 700 miles at 7 month old. Main dealer was asking £34K.
I'd push for a better deal. If you're trading in your Audi they will probably make on that side of the deal too. Not many people are going to walk in with £30K and pay full price. For cash I'd expect to pay £28/29K tops. I've seen similar car today asking £25,500 private sale.
Regards Chris.

Doesn't look modded at all, good colour combo. I'd push for extended warranty.

As slowhand mentioned warranty, 66plate is nearing 3 years old. A lot of the first 2016 cars that were on 3year PCP deals are going to be on the market soon.

ps Forgotten to say welcome here. :handshake:

Gents, many thanks for the warm welcome!
Agree with all your positive information and comments.
I suppose I should have stated it has to be an automatic for me due to an old injury, and I don’t mind autos anyway which helps although it reduces my options for what is available on the market. This car is under warranty until Jan 2019. As suggested I am considering going back to them and asking for a 3 year extended warranty thrown into the deal free. If I was going for a straight buy with no trade in I wouldn’t be willing to pay more than £29k. And as also highlighted it will have an impact on resale value for me down the line being in the higher tax bracket. They obbviously want it moved as they email me every two days asking what my thoughts are. . If there were other genuinely keen potential buyers I don’t think they’d be so pro-active on following me up. Never dealt with Ford dealerships before so really don’t know what to expect. I’ve owned German cars plenty and current motor was purchased from Audi main dealer. Doesn’t always mean a main dealer is good, that said I’ve had Jaguars and last Jag I bought two years ago (new style XJ-) Jaguar were faultless in their service and support.
Anyway, all good stuff and again really helpful and much appreciated.
Constantly scanning the net but just drawn to this particular car- colour, spec, one private owner, up to date servicing, all the spec etc etc. I’m sure you’ve all been the same when buying

Hi Gr11M,
Cheers for your comments.
Only ever driven a Mustang GTfor 15 minutes, quick test drive at a main dealers. The salesman was due to handover another car and you could see his mind was on other things. Not a great working practice, he should have handed it over to a colleague to spend longer with me but he was obviously hoping for a sale! I need a good hour in one on every variation of roads, surfaces and speeds to know I am making the right choice. That said I loved the chracter and feel of it.
I know the autobox comes up for a lot of criticism. Unfortunately for me it has to be an auto due to bad knee injuries. That said I've owned plenty of quality cars (over 70) of all marques and decent standard and I'd never go back into a manual even if I could. I love them for a blast and progressive driving courses they are always going to be the best option but for regular all round use I now prefer the 'lazy' easy drive of an auto.
I'm not looking for an all out back road burner, I now prefer GT type large engined relaxed drives with a nice bit of poke and character and think the GT ticks these boxes.
Looking across all the sites at the moment none of the Mustangs for sale seem to be shifting with any sense of urgency?

The 2018 10 speed auto is much nicer.
Next test drive stick it in sport mode - flick the mode switch up to cycle through the different modes and fyi don't turn off the traction control :like:
I think the people who buy Mustangs specifically want a Mustang, it doesn't really tick many boxes for the average Joe who turns up to a dealer looking for "a" car.

Unfortunately budget isn't stretching to a 10 speed, possibly another year or so when they have lost their initial residual.
Agree with all your recommendations ref driving one. Amonsgt my long list of cars owned it includes a few Beemers, 911, AMG Merc, Jag XK's so I'm familiar with rear wheel idiosycrasies :like: And when I really want to cover ground with serious velocity I go out one of my bikes:wink:
I always prefer 'different' which is why I love The Musatng. Unless in the supercar league I find most moden cars very average in character and looks. It's about time they all became a bit more adventrousand daring.
Still keen on the grabber blue example in my initial post, pushing for a better deal and holding off slightly to see if I get the A7 sold privately before trading in.
Just an observation, I'm not seeing many for sale privately?

A later car may well have been over £40K list new & will be hit with the £300/year extra tax. You could try to find another for a longer drive.
