They can email it to you, no need to travel to them. At least get the order number and the dealer number. With those two things Ford performance chat can tell you when the order went in and the status. They won't give you the VIN# if it has one assigned or the build date, but will tell you if it has it. Then you can get it from your dealer.

Yes, that deep blue is pretty awesome. If you don't yet have a VIN# or build date, I almost certainly will get it first. Thanks for the luck, I never turn away any good luck :-) Good luck to you!
OK, yes I now have that info. E-Mail from dealer:

"Lew,

Your order # is J202 and our sales code is F53123

I am meeting with the Ford rep today and I am asking for a supplemental piece of allocation to get your Mustang scheduled. Once scheduled it will have a vin# and I will forward that to you."

Looks like your advice was accurate. Thanks IronG.

Kool that others have chimed in about their on order KONA Blue GT's Good Luck to all of you. I will probably be last in line to get mine.

I was almost thinking I should have ordered something lighter in color. It seemed the dark blue was unpopular for some reason. Not

Got to thinking about that statement. I know the dealership got about 10 new 2019 GT's on the lot the week following my order placement, none of them what I wanted. Now I am wondering if those new cars were maxing out the "Dealer Allocation"? Does not seem right because a customer order through a dealer should'nt effect their allocations IMO.
Just thinking out loud, nothing else to do around here but watch it snow.

Update from dealer.

Lew,

Sorry if this a duplicate reply. Your order # is J202 and our sales code is F53123. I met with the Ford Rep today and the allocation request is at the regional level which is a step above the zone level. As soon as it schedules I will forward the vin # to you.

I guess if anything the dealer knows i am concerned with the delay in DD.

The allocation issue drives a lot of these, and seems to vary by area.

One dealer I spoke to couldn't get an allocation, knew it, and waved off the order the first day. Another asked for 3 days to try to get one, got it, but then refused to move off of MSRP. The dealer I went with didn't have one, was sure he could get it, and dealt on price from the start. It did take him two weeks to get the allocation confirmed, however.

Two other dealers didn't have allocations but thought they could get one. Never went far enough with either to see if they really could.

So it seems with the allocation. I think it is pretty sleazy if they don't tell you they don't have any allocation and just let you sweat it out. It makes a 12 week process turn into 20. Where I live the 8 dealers I went to within 20 miles of me all had allocations. They one upped each other on price as well. It was actually far easier than I thought it would be to get a good price on an ordered car. I am sure I could have done a 1k-1.5k better if I got one off the lot, but for me it is worth the 12 weeks to pay a little more. Who knows, I may get a better rebate and some private cash when I pick it up to mostly break even on the order vs on the lot purchase.

Picked it up yesterday! Rare rainy day in SoCal; didn’t care. Haven’t stopped smiling yet.

Spent almost 15 weeks (caught the holidays) reading the manual, but having a blast flipping through all the settings and getting the feel of the GT.
Absolutely worth the wait.

Yes, at this point I know the manual well. I have a couple friends at work that have 18's so I got to see the stuff on a fairly regular basis. They will be bringing theirs out of hibernation about the time I get mine.

How long should "In Production" take on the Tracking site? My car has been in that stage for a few weeks!

My GT was delivered last week. If I remember correctly the tracker showed “in production” for a several weeks maybe 2 or 3 weeks. Doesn’t really mean the car is actually on the assembly line. Seems like the window sticker link appeared about week after the track showed “in prod”. The window sticker will show the blend date at the top, which is the day the car is scheduled to roll off the assembly line. That is a very accurate date. Tracker is not real time and operated on a delay. Usually it tells you what happened a couple of days ago. My car was delivered about 5 days early based on the tracker EDD.

Thanks. My blend date was 1/22 so that is a good sign!

Ordered this morning.

Was told around 6-8 weeks. But it should be worth the wait. I'm in cold snowy NE winter right now, and hopefully when it gets close to delivery the winter will start lightening up.

I'm quite excited.
Went back to get my order posting.. I asked my salesman on 1/31/2019 and he gave me my VIN, not sure how long he may have had it, but he told me it should have 2/25 as it's build week... I'm quite excited. Getting ever closer. :)

I think that's ~5 ish weeks to get a VIN.. But they may have already had that a couple weeks since the last time I checked in.

Edit: I was a week ahead.
