They are a small local dealer that I have bought many autos. This my first experience in placing an order.
I get that you've worked with the dealer before, but seriously, it doesn't sound like he's putting it straight with you. Ask to see the order sheet and when it was submitted; you should have had the VIN within 2-3 weeks, and then you could track progress. My total duration is about 15 weeks, which isn't unreasonable given all the Holidays; yours should have been the same.
Yep, I would demand to see the order sheet. It will have the order number, the date it was submitted and the priority the dealer set it at. I am guessing they did one or both of these to you.....did not submit it right away.....put a very low priority on it. They may also have too many other orders in front of yours. As Hitek mentioned, you should have gotten your VIN# a few weeks after the order went in unless one or more of the items I mentioned exists. I was handed the order sheet the day I placed the order.
So... my delivery date went "NA" yesterday after showing 02/01 for about a week. Called dealer today and found that the GT is at the rail station about 40 miles away; dealer is arranging the pickup now. Looks like Friday at the latest!
Yeh kinda thinkin the same thing. January/February weather around here is not good for new car finish or testing out the speed limiter.
No didn't get a "DORA" I haven't left the house today. I see you have a GT in KONA BLUE on order. I was going to get one in MAGNETIC like the 16 I have now, but thought... it would be nice to get some color, and besides no one would notice I have a new car (how vain). So changed my order for KONA BLUE with CERAMIC over the MAGNETIC in EBONY.
They can email it to you, no need to travel to them. At least get the order number and the dealer number. With those two things Ford performance chat can tell you when the order went in and the status. They won't give you the VIN# if it has one assigned or the build date, but will tell you if it has it. Then you can get it from your dealer.
