Hey everyone.

This post isn't a diss towards Ford, nor any model. It's my personal experience with how I feel now, VS when I bought it.

I picked up my 2015GT in Metallic Grey in late 16, with 15,000Miles. No mods, bone stock, driven by a 65 Y/O for those 15K Miles. I've always been a car enthusiast, and have driven many cars. Including an Evo, Sti, M3, M5, and onto my GT. I still currently own the 15M3.

When I picked my GT up, I was very happy with it. It purred just right, the lines always made me do a double look when I parked. After some minor mods, like Bassani Full Catback, Manifold, Intake, a Conservative Diablo Tune, Coils, and some I'm sure I'm forgetting... It felt perfect. Didn't need it to go any faster, or look any better to me. Also, like just a simple clean look. I usually drove like a Granny, with a light pull from time to time, or the occasional roll race not usually passed 130. Can probably recollect every time. I changed the Oil every 4-5K, Washed Bi-weekly, waxed monthly, etc.

At around 30k, all that changed. First thing I started noticing was creaking from inside the cabin. Hot or Cold weather. It makes the car feel cheap. It goes away at times, then comes back.

Slightly after this, my rear view camera completely went out. Warranty obviously fixed this.

At around 35K, I popped an Oil Pressure light. Obviously worried, I bought it in. Turned out the oil pressure wasn't low, but they couldn't get this light off. Ford ended up having my car for almost two months to figure it out. They had discovered that my PCM was configured wrong from the factory. The PCM was replaced and this fixed the issue. During this time, Ford made two of my car payments. Which definitely helped me with some redemption feelings.

Next to go was my Advanced Trac system. It started out as just a fuse issue but then turned out to be half the assembly.

The next issue I deal with is a burning smell upon pulls. I've heard this a common problem with no catch can. But I have one. No codes were thrown, but not only does this smell horrible, but it also determines the enjoyment experience from going faster.

Next on the list is that the USB connection constantly goes out. I'll need to reset my USB connections every other week in order to sync my phone.

Also, the number of recall items I've had to take my car in for was nothing short of being insane. Roughly 5 Recall issues. Two serious, 3 minor.

The next issue that's has a started is the common paint corrosion I just recently found out about. I didn't realize this was another common issue among the metals used in our hoods. As someone who takes pride in keeping the cars I own every pristine, this was another blowback to make me shake my head.

All in all, I like the car, not love it. It's still a beauty on the outside and I yield compliments on it almost weekly. But how many times do I need to walk around saying oh, it's just another '' common '' problem. Some people have had one problem, or not at all. This was my experience. It'll always vary per person obviously.

The conclusion is that I'll never buy a ford again. I respect the motor, the power it can yield off bolt on mods, and the work that went into the body. This isn't a review to tell people not to buy one either.

I've beat down on cars 100 times harder and rarely had issues. I haven't even done that with this car and I've gone through the above.

Hopefully, I'll get better luck on my next adventure.

Not trying to be snide - seriously - but that's the reason I'll never buy the first model year of a new platform.

I have a 2017 GT, bought new, and experience several creaks/rattles within the cabin. I've even identified a creak which comes from the rear seats resting on their mounts/hinges. When the car's weight distribution shifts (i.e. go over a small bump with the right tire only), it would creak from the stress on the body. I have found that spraying WD-40 on each joint/mounting point of the rear seats fixes this. Still obnoxious. Also have rattles from somewhere in the dash.

My car also suffered from the 50-70mph highway vibration, turned out the rear diff had begun grenading itself with only 1000 miles on the car. Warranty replaced the entire rear assembly/driveshaft, and it is improved. I still swear i feel some driveline vibration at highway speeds, but it is very minimal and i've learned to live with it. Also highly disappointed with the paint - appears to be a very thin coat, and chips/scratches very easily. I really enjoy my car, and plan on keeping it for a while. I likely will not replace it with another Ford however. Going from a e60 5 series to this car makes me miss the luxurious features/glass smooth ride, but at least for now, the GT more than makes up for that with the fun factor.

It's a Mustang. I think people have to remember that. It's a high performance, very good looking car but its still a Mustang. This is why I would shy away from buying some of these trims that cost $50K. In the end it's a Mustang and you have to keep your expectations in perspective. And for that matter, even much more expensive foreign cars have issues that should never happen at the price point, and issues much more serious in some cases.

That's why I bought a base GT. $30K, which really isn't expensive nowadays for a decent new car. It's a great platform to build on.

With that said I have a 2015 and I beat the hell out of it every day and haven't had any problems with it.

Zero recalls, Zero Warranty claims Just a great all around car. I've been tuned since 5000 km's on the clock as well.

I think this is most of the issue. I have a 2015 early build with 55k miles. Everytime I get in that seat I don't drive it like a granny. No issues except for oil changes and tires. But also thinking I've been pretty lucky with cars. All of the cars I've owned never gave me any issues.

Original post and after replies proves to me some people have good luck with cars and some don’t. I had a 2011 (first year car) bought used with 13,500 miles and had no problems except paint bubbling at the front of the hood. No real mechanical problems. Just oil changes, tires and wiper blades! Really liked that car. It rode smoother than my current 2018 but, like the upgrades on the 2018.

Nice man. I wish I had that luck with mine. I feel like every other three weeks it was sitting at the dealer. I definitely feel that half the Owners of our cars experience these constant issues. With that said, Ford needs to seriously fix these problems in the long run. They've nailed the looks department, the motor department, now it's time to really address these issues.

Op..sorry about your troubles along the way..I'm lucky to be in the group of hassle free ' 15 s550s I guess..though I haven't driven a third of the normal mileage as it sits at 14,000mi...I give you credit for sticking with a car that I'd surely sold or traded way back..have you owned other gen mustangs?

I haven't personally. My father owns a 1965 Fastback. The less technology, usually the better. It's a champ. All original.
