So.....I changed my oil like 3 days ago. I've changed my oil many times before and am very familiar with the whole procedure. Everything went smooth and this time I wanted to put my upr catch can back on because I had a breather setup. I don't know I just thought the car reacted better with a closed system. Anyways!....I do the the complete oil change ( drain/filter/refill etc) and i take off my oil cap breather and put it on a towel in the trunk. The OEM oil cap is in my apartment so i figured when I go to get that ill just put this one back) My wife calls and needs me to run a quick errand. I live in an apartment building with a parking garage so I have to run all the way back to the apartment to hear my wife nag. In the meantime my best friend from college facetimes me show me his brand new baby girl. Time passes. I then go to run the errand my wife initially called me for. I get to the pharmacy and i noticed very very little smoke coming out the hood. Yea.........I forgot to put the oil cap back on. There was oil everywhere but i think it just looked that way and wasnt actually a lot because I checked the dip stick and it was clean and full. Oil on top hood liner, oil all around where the oil cap sits and noticed even some on the grounding wires and stuff. I tried cleaning as much as i could with paper towels. I drove back to the apartment and added a "just incase" amt of fresh oil. Maybe half a quart. I acted impulsively. Not even sure if it was necessary.
So .....I know me and I know that im probably overthinking stuff but today i went on a drive and i don't know, it felt like before all this the boost would come on a lot earlier in my car ( paxton s550) lol. Its a dumb assumption and probably doesn't have anything to do with it but still.....Also, I read (not here) that oil could have gotten into the spark plugs and then I thought maybe that was the reason I was feeling this way. Guys i'm an idiot. I know. Be nice.....but is there anything else I should do?
lol I was reading this old post where it happened to this lady and it was the dealers fault and they pressure washed the engine....i was like OMG! nooooo.

meh..You didn't lose oil pressure, so you're good. :like:

Think of it as seasoning a nice old cast iron skillet. Now, it'll last forever.

You'll be good. Nothing could have been damaged just some mess. The coils make a pretty tight seal around the spark plug holes so the chances of oil getting in there is slim to none. Don;t worry about it

Thank you so much for the ressurrance. Man i got in touch with my tuner. Started adding plugs to the (evil)cart. I'm gonna just let it roll and see if i notice anything else. My main concern was all the ground wires in that area like around the fuse box. But i'm guessing ford definitely thought about all this already.
well.....if i were to get new plugs lol.....between NGK 6510s or Brisk RR14S, any suggestions? Tuner said .028 for gap size.
Thanks Folks!

Oil on the ground wires wont hurt them. Go NGK for sure, several (including myself) have had issues with the Brisks.

I went with a catch can made by PSI Proformance (in PA). You can see more about it here: https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...h-can-breather-style-non-recirculated.103125/

If you drive your car in the colder weather stay away from the UPR. Condensation will fill the can within days.

Dude where in PA?!
My wife an i are in Harrisburg PA for the next year or so. Been here for a fellowship. Anyways, I totally agree with you on the upr cans in colder weather. I emailed fathouse fab but they said they werent sure if there can would fit with the paxton but now that you mentioned PSI, im certainly reconsidering. Ill end up given em a call soon.

Thanks

They're in Lansdale, PA. I think an hour and a half or so from Harrisburg. The can I run probably wont work for a Paxton either since your air filter goes right in that spot. However I would just contact Travis at PSI and ask to bring it in, they can fabricate something for you. Mine was the first one they fabricated of mine to fit.

Hey ahl395

I emailed PSI and they said they would need time to fabricate a can and i just wanted a quicker fix. I really appreciate the reference though. I also came across another upr can that looks like an updated design for the sc'd s550s. Do you think this kit would be better then the closed system i have currently. It seems similar to yours. Heres the link.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks

It would be better than the closed one since it has a breather on it, but it's still pretty small and will fill up fairly quickly in winter if you drive the car alot. It might be simpler (and cheaper) to just go with breathers on the valve covers.
