yes, the nitrous pill doesn't change anything with the tune, it's only purpose is to ramp the bypass closed so it builds boost just a hair slower. You could literally take the nitrous jet off and it would work like any other blower would. You can also just slap it back on with out having to change anything in the tune.Can you run the same tune with/without the nitrous pill? That way you can run it on the street for better manners and take it out at the track with drag radials or slicks.
20-25 over ambient while moving seems high... no? Today in my whipple while moving I was 6 degrees over ambientI was finally able to finish fine tuning the new set up and figured I would share some of the info I have gathered...
- Fuel trims are pretty spot on considering Edelbrock's stage 1 uses the stock MAF housing, thus the stock MAF curve is retained. With the correct injector data you should end up with damn near perfect trims as seen in my log
- The stock fuel pump has no problem keeping up even with out a BAP(don't let the purple line confuse you, that's fuel flow not fuel psi). Also it was only 50psi in the screenshot because the pressure dropped as the shift was being made. during WOT it holds 70-76psi(commanding 73psi)
- Airflow is pretty good, I have been averaging 74#/min, with a few logs showing a peak of 77#/min. This is through the stock airbox, the green drop-in filter, and the included 3.25"(82mm pulley).
- Boost, this question is bound to come up, the car makes 10psi of boost. How ever as you can prob tell from the MAF numbers, the nitrous pill Edelbrock includes in the bypass hose does help ramp in the boost to help with traction. When looking at the boost gauge I see 7psi the second I floor it and then it will jump to a steady 10psi pretty quickly. The best way to describe it is to think of a small turbo spooling, it almost feels like lag but it's not bc you are def still seeing 7psi of boost, but then you feel the rest of the boost hit just a second later.
- Intercooling, This specific pull started at ~60mph and carried to 161mph
IAT2 at the start of the pull: 82*f
IAT2 at the end of the pull: 115*f
When cruising the IAT's are normally about 20-25* over ambient![]()
Too many variables, I can get mine to get a few degree's over ambient as well, but in order to get to Mexico for my pulls, I have to do a lot of stop and go, so I just showed what most people can expect. I could do a pull after driving around for a while to get the coldest starting temps, hell Edelbrock's dyno video shows a 11* temp increase while sitting still on a dyno with only a fan, so you can imagine what you can expect when you have 100mph+ air and you actually spent time at speed to bring the temps down. I got mine as low as 54* last night and ambient temps were ~45*, but again, this was while driving around on the highway for a while(pic shows 59* bc I thought that was the coldest it would get, I was wrong lol, it did drop lower the more I drove around)20-25 over ambient while moving seems high... no? Both the Edelbrock and the Gen V whipple have the sensor on the #4 runner post intercooler, unless the guy has a gen 2/3 kit, then yes, those have them on a different locationIsn’t the IAT sensor in a different location between the different blowers? That’ll prevent an apples to apples comparison by itself.
