What is the max speed on a 2018 mustang GT PP1 with governer removed. Mine reaches factory limit at 155-160 in 7th gear 6500 rpm. So I still have 8th,9th and 10th gear. Thanks Max

Sounds like a tune that removes the limiter is in your future. And then you can tell us.

And dear God, test it in an appropriate place, not on the road.

If I had to guess, I’d put it in the 170-180mph range. You’ll never get an official number, just people testing themselves.

180 more than likely once you get around to a mile and a half after a dead stop start

With 3.55 rear gear and a 27.5" tall tire, 6500 in 7th is only 150, My car dyno'd 420rwhp and GPS showed 171 in 8th at 6200, It does get there somewhat quick but you need more power if you want more speed ..

Thank you. Do you also know if their is anyway I can take the governor off without voiding my warranty.

You have to assume your power train warranty will no longer be honored after flashing a tune to the PCM to remove the governor. You could get lucky and have a dealer that will work with you, but that’s not a guarantee.

On another note, I have a little curiosity as to why you’d like to remove it. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to remove the governor on mine. I have places where I can legally drive as fast as conditions permit, so it would be fun to know exactly how fast the car can go. Not a big deal, just curiosity.

I am just a speed demon. Do you think the factory axle can hold up past 160mph.

I recall an interview with a Ford engineer saying it may be aero limited beyond about 168 or so. So you’ll likely need to add downforce.

Doesnt the PP1 with the big wing provide some sort of downforce?

This is completely incorrect, please ignore it. Go ahead and tune your car, it will not void your warranty.

Almost every owner on this forum tunes their car, and there's been 0 reported issues with warranty.

Very little, like 20-ish lbs, though that may be the PP2 front + rear spoilers, the PP1 may just be cosmetic, I cannot remember off the top of my head.

Flashing the ECU does indeed potentially void warranty, key wording there is potentially. The dealership can see that the ecu has been modified, even if you flash it back prior to service. However, it depends on the dealership and service department as to if they’ll attempt to claim the tune is what caused whatever issue you’re bringing the car in for - generally, if you have a good relationship with your dealership (and if they aren’t jerks) there won’t be an issue.
But, at the same time, with the exception of E85 tunes, tuning the 2018+ Mustang has shown to be kinda worthless in terms of 0-60 and 1/4 performance... so, is it really worth it for an extra 10ish mph top speed. :p
