Hey all, I just picked up my 19 GT A10 301a with active exhaust tonight. Had an 18 that was replaced with this car as it had the tick/rattle. I'll cross my fingers that this car is ok. Picked up some ceratec just to have in case.

I'll get some better pictures but I honestly wasn't the biggest fan of Kona Blue before seeing this in person. I like it better than the LB. I'll be posting more as I start to mod this car :like:

So did they just straight up switch you from the 18 to the 19?

Beyond obvious paperwork (assuming you had to deal with new finance details) how did all this work?

Does Ford just buy you out and forgets the depreciation?

A Ford RAV Buy Back with the owner choosing the vehicle exchange option works like this:

The deal is strictly MSRP to MSRP. If the new vehicle MSRP chosen is over the cost of the original MSRP, the owner has to pay the delta. It’s in very rare instances that Ford RAV will cover any delta between the MSRP’s (some owners have reported RAV has covered slight variances, but they are not obligated to do so in any way).

It’s not always a “key for key” swap either. The details of the swap depend on your home State Lemon Laws (Ford has to adhere to THOSE laws) and the Customer’s Case.

Also to note:
Ford isn’t losing ANYTHING on these Buy Backs - it’s been proven that the Lemon is then refurb’d or repaired and then IS resold on another of Ford’s lots - OR the car is then auctioned off and ends up on another Car Dealer lot somewhere in the US.

If you need to know more or read up on Buy Back details, hit up the Issues/TSB sub-forum on here as there is a TON of valuable info.

A buy back has to be incredibly hard to get approval/authorization for. Who authorizes it- the service manager, dealership owner? My 2017 Camaro with the shudder issue should have been "bought back" but no way since they had TSB's, etc. to attempt to fix it. I got sick of it and the last time the car was at the dealer a month so I decided what's the use having a car that is in repair all of the time. So I traded it in and lost 10K.

I have to say this was not that bad. The car had the tick, obvious rattle at 2k rpms, broken right rear shock, transmission shudder at low speeds and a bunch of interior rattles. I brought it into service at about 800 miles and they told me the rattle/tick was the DI. They did tell me I was low a quart of oil though. I asked to meet me in the am and we would start the car together and that's when they heard it with me. They had me drive it 500 miles to see if I had anymore loss of oil.

When I brought it back the Car was there for over 30 days with no resolution because ford was telling them is was normal, dealer wanted to scope the motor and ford wouldn't authorize it. Apparently they eventually did and found scoring on cylinder 6. I called my case manager with ford and asked for a buy back or replacement and it was approved. Took about a month with the holidays from the time they agreed to the buyback.

Yes but I had to pay the MSRP difference. They do a substitution of collateral so my current financing stays the same. I paid cash for the price difference between the 2. This one had the active exhaust, 355s and black out package that I am so glad I have as the wheels on the LB were hideous, the power down low was terrible and the active exhaust is pretty cool. If I wanted a buy back they give you all your money back after they pay off the loan including the payments you made minus any mileage you used. NJ lemon law is 20 days out of service so it was not that bad in my case. The ruby red car in the pic came in at the same time for the same issue. We both got buy backs/replacements.

This isn't correct. Ford is taking a loss. You sell me a $40k product you manufacture and a year and a half later you have to replace it with another $40k product at no cost to me. You take back my used product, repair or recondition it at your expense, and then hope to get $30K out of it. Even if it cost nothing to repair or recondition there is a loss of profit of $10k and that doesn't even account for the fact that there has to be a whole division of your company just to administer the program. No, Ford isn't sending these cars to the crusher, but they are taking a loss.
