Sources? The only thing I ever heard about the 15s are they are more likely to break. Id think a tuned 18+ auto would be the ticket.
You have got to be kidding Blue. Where are your sources and evidence other than hearsay, rumors, and bullshit?

Some Tuners were blowing up 2015's and claimed that there was an engine defect to save their own ass. They claimed that Cleveland engines were different and safe. Then Tuned Cleveland's starting popping and the Tuner went silent and ran to Facebook to control the narrative and block anyone who challenged his BS.

I started a huge fight with a Tuner about these false claims and nearly got banned. To date there is not a single shred of evidence that 2015 engines are more likely to fail than Cleveland. But that hasn't stopped some people from spreading false claims obviuosly.

The false argument included rod bolt with different torque specs, smoother block with slight differences, bad casting with pin holes, blah, blah, blah.

I have done extensive reading on the subject for years and posted numerous times about the 2015 debate. There is no evidence the 2015 is more likely to break . ECU tuned Ecoboost engines fail at a very high rate compared to non ECU tuned Ecoboost engines. This is not 2.3 Ecoboost specific, just visit any Ecoboost forum and the same thing plays out, ECU tuned engines fail at a higher rate.

Discussion and link of tests showing Ecoboost Mustang getting slower including a Ford engineer saying that early Ecoboost may have a different calibration. Oddly, you posted on this thread. I guess you have a very bad memory when it comes to facts but when it comes to bullshit, your memory is pretty good.

Also, the world record for the Ecoboost Mustang is or was a 2015 with a 2014 block number 678, the same as mine.

https://www.fordnxt.com/news/upr-resets-the-ecoboost-mustang-quarter-mile-record-again

And for the record, my unmodified, dealership maintained, stock 2014 Valencia engine has been flawless for 3+ years.

I've had my 2015 Ecoboost convertible since new I've had zero problems. My advice is do no mods run 93 octane fuel and have fun. Believe me it'll run plenty fast enough to beat the ricers and get you a speeding ticket.

If you are concerned about finances stick with a stock Ecoboost, preferrebly with an extended warranty if used.
Yep, I was going to post the same thing. If your financial situation is a bit tight, the _last_ thing I'd do is buy a car, and introduce less reliability and/or the possibility of expensive repairs (possibly affecting your ability to get to work, etc.)

Nah, you gotta ignore that guy. He has dedicated his life to making a case for why his ecoboost is the greatest thing on the planet.
Someone needs a hug. Did you have some technical or relavant details to share or did you just want to show your ignorance?

its been a long time since i had an ecoboost and had to sell the gt for financial reasons. I leased the ecoboost when it came out and then bought a few gts and then sold lol. Long stories not worth posting here. I was just seeing what people thought of the car as a platform for modding.

You sold a brand new 2018 GT for financial reasons? Basically, you lost a few grand on a brand new car is what you're saying? The old adage measure twice, cut once can be adapted to this situation. That adage turns into think twice and buy once.

But I digress, the ecoboost is a good car. Turbo and blow-off noises are fun and it's pretty quick and handles well. Really the only downside to a boost is the exhaust sound.

Is the price difference that much between an Ecoboost and a base GT? I got my base GT for 30K. And if the Ecoboost requires 93 octane I would probably spend the same if not more on gas than my GT. I drive my GT with a light foot and net 26.5 MPG average and just got over 30 on a 1300 mile trip. But I know someone that bought a 2018 Ecoboost auto and he loves it. He previously had a VW Golf RS.

I bought a new '18 EB PP 6spd in Feb of this year. So far I have put over 17K miles on it, including a couple track days. I love it. Other than the GT 4 piston brakes being poorly designed for serious road course duty, it has performed flawlessly (and I quickly remedied that with the GT PP 6 piston Brembos). I can get over 30 mpg hwy, with my normal average mpg at 25. The trunk is huge and the backseats can carry humans (smaller ones). When I bought it, it was about $8-9K less than a comparable GT. I can assure you that the EB is just as much fun in bumper to bumper traffic as the GT. But, to be honest, I'm not a "died in the wool" Mustang guy. This is my first American car, period. I bought it because it was a modern, stylish, "European style GT", at an affordable price (i.e., a modern 944 Turbo). If that is appealing to you, get the EB. But if explaining to people why you didn't get the V8 is a problem, then you may need the GT. And yes, the first question out of everyone's mouth after you tell them you have a Mustang is, "Is it a V8?".

If the warranty is important to you and you still want a tune, check out Ford Performance. They'll tune it and still have a warranty.

I've had a lot of fun modding my EB, but if I had to choose just one mod, it would be my tuner (Cobb). Nothing else has made as big a difference in making the car more fun to drive.

I bought my EB in august, and have already dumped like 3k on it just on mods alone.

Anything you can do to a GT exterior wise you can do to an EB, but as far as the engine, there's tuners, bigger turbos, BOVs, intercooler upgrades, intakes, exhaust, etc.

Can probably just go through CJs and AM and look at all your options. I'm sure you're familiar with how fast the stock eco is already since you said you've had one but you can probably break 400hp with some simple mods and a tune.

2018s are nice but you can save money on used ones, of course. 15-17s can be had for 16-21k depending on condition.

What's your budget? How much do you want to spend total? I'd start there and then figure it out.

I test drove both GT and EB - I went with EB because I have long commute and with a couple hundred in mods it's plenty fast for me.
