Thanks for all the info. I was also under the impression that even though you use the toggle to turn of traction control and advancetrac it does not turn them off 100%. is that not true?
This is, and that is why you unplug the connector while on the dyno.

Does unplugging the connector effect the ABS like the removing the fuse does?

As previously mentioned, the airbox connector doesnt disable ABS (thank god).

If you hold the toggle for the full 6-7 seconds all T/C and Advancetrack IS definitely turned off. 100%.

I have a lot of wheel time racing in that configuration. I used to run in track mode with the toggle disabling everything, but its even more obvious in normal mode, which is pretty conservative normally. Holding the toggle does work.

The airbox connector doesnt do anything for you the toggle wont, except you have to get out of the car to do it, and its semi permanent (no way to turn it back on without reconnecting the connector). The toggle switches are a lot more convenient.

One difference is relevant if you left foot brake (lfb).

Normally "brake overrides throttle" at speeds over about 10 mph meaning power is "cut". This is true even if you only "touch" the brake pedal enough to illuminate the brake lights.

Turning the nannies off using the toggle switch disables this so simultaneous brake/throttle does not "cut power".

Per my testing pulling the "dyno plug" does NOT disable "brake over rides throttle".

Note that some/many track and autocross drivers have a problem with the nannies coming back on if disabled using the switch. If that is an issue then pulling the plug may be the best solution.

I don't lfb in autocross so both methods of disabling the nannies for autocross are OK with me. On the street I want the nannies and with an automatic I do lfb so I actually like having the car "remind me" if I overlap brake and throttle. Therefore I reconnect the plug after an autocross or testing.

For Fuck sake, use the switch. It turns all the nannies off. No need to unplug anything. All this is in the manual.

using the toggle switch doesnt fully disengage. the computer is still monitoring and will affect it. this is only for dyno, the computer sees the front wheels stationary and the rear spinning and tried to interfere, this is how it was on 15-17 as well. even the tuners will tell you to pull the plug

For the dyno, I guess I could see this being relevant. As far as driving, turning it all off with the switch absolutely fully disengages the AdvanceTrac and traction control.

My guess is that some dyno tuners arent doing it right. You can spin the tires with the front wheels stationary just fine when disabled correctly with the toggles.

I were a dyno tuner I’d pull the plug too. The hood is already open, and pulling the plug is reliable and works no matter if you have the premium interior toggle switches or whatever.

lund told me to pull the plug. i believe this was gone over many times when the 15 was released. Ford made it where the system is never fully off. Yes you can spin the tires but that doesnt mean youre getting full power.

What's not in the manual is that turning them off with the switch still leaves the system capable of turning itself back on.

My guess is that things like an ABS event or unusually rapid application of the brakes could be among the triggers that trip AdvanceTrak back to being fully on. The presumption being that when a driver makes things like that happen in normal street driving, the situation is going to hell in a handbasket, and the driver (of unknown skill level) needs all the help that AdvanceTrak is capable of providing.

F62 also disables the anti lock brakes. This will likely also disable any onboard line lock functions in track mode.

So keep in mind your anti-lock braking is not active in this state. Anti lock braking for those who may have a misconception on the function of the system is to allow you to still be able to steer away from the collision at full braking in a stop short scenario. Stopping faster is not the design concept. At full lock up with no wheel rotation there is no ability to steer. The pulsing effect allowing wheel rotation during braking so that you may be able to steer clear of the hazard.

Yep I can tell you exactly what happens , I drove one of my previous fun cars over a embankment into river at over 109 mph . I tried to go right and it went straight right over the edge and splash , I told the beautiful lady officer I think a brake line broke how ever since they knew me she asked what really happened !

i know the fuse worked on my 16, and we pulled the plug by the intake on my 18. only heard negative things about doing it for anything other than a dyno
what negative things have you heard about driving this way? I am curious because I have left the plug disconnected since my last dyno runs, and I have grown to like it. I just don't want anything i'm not aware of happening.

Thanks,

I pull the plug - "Service Advancetrack" coming back in the middle of the run (which happened to me at least twice on the '18 and many times on the '15) turns everything back on and returns the car to Normal mode - which - with Magnaride - completely sucks...

Thanks,
As long as your not trying to use drag mode on toggle car as it turns it off. I like having non toggle car because my tune is the drag mode in sport and I have full OFF unplugged advancetrac/traction control/stability control.

Nothing except the car will not try to save itself if you fuck up as the driver.
