I did a "very" quick search and found nothing about this. I have been turning on my sport mode for the exhaust before starting, but with the ignition on. Ironically the valves are closed then open, the opposite if you do a cold start without doing this 1st. 5000 miles and I just found this out.

Interesting - I'll have to try that just for grins. I commute in mine 3 days a week and leave the neighborhood about 6:30 so I usually push the start button a few seconds before pushing in the clutch and starting the engine to put it in quiet mode so as not to disturb the neighbors when it first fires.

When you start the car it goes into sport mode and quickly goes back into normal mode.

Normally, but you can circumvent that if you want. Just climb in, leave foot off clutch, punch start button, wait about 2 or 3 seconds while the valves close and then push in clutch and hit the button to start the engine and it will start in quiet mode.

I've also found that if you depress the clutch and wait to hear the valves cycle before hitting start, it will start in quiet mode as well.

This. Depress the clutch and wait for the valves to cycle through their BIT, then start the car.
