I have seen people post one or the other as a confirmation of their order. Is there one that trumps the other, or are they essentially the same thing?

Well, one is a Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgment, one is an Order Confirmation Sheet.

Would you rather I simply acknowledge your question or confirm it?

I realize that DORA stands for Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgment and Order Confirmation Sheet means Order Confirmation Sheet. My question was asking if there is any significant difference between the two, or are they basically same thing. Sort of like a "merchant copy" and a "customer copy."

As far as how you want to answer my question ... do that however you want to. It appears as if you chose to take the sarcastic route ...

Curious myself on this as I got the order confirmation, I can see my order in Fords system so I'm not worried.

I do take the sarcastic route often, I mean no harm.

I don't know the real answer to your question, however I was attempting to point out that Confirm > Acknowledge.

DORA I assume is the factory just replying back that they have received the order. an OCS would be confirming the order has been placed and is now in their system in the lineup.

I got virtually nothing. My dealer said they couldn't put in anything since they knew nothing of allotment. I mentioned that people on here had spoken of using something called CONCEPS but when I left I only got a sheet with the summary of options and cost, a receipt for my refundable deposit, and was told it would be put in as an actual customer order ASAP. Should I be calling them and straightening them out in any way it is this about right?

VOC (vehicle order confirmation) is just the order as placed by dealer. Order is not actually acknowledged by Ford at this juncture.

DORA (dealer order receipt acknowledgement) is Ford's acknowledgement that they've received an order from the dealer. This is the document any customer should ask for.

Are you trying to get an LE? When you say dealer, are you referring to management or a salesman? Most salesmen haven't a clue unless they are Mustang guys. Talk to the Management, and make sure the GM lets you know about the LE. If they haven't heard of an allotment, then they probably didn't get one. Over 1200 dealers did not receive an allotment. If they can't show you a VOC today that they ordered it, and then a DORA within 24 to 48 hours, get your money and run. Finally, why would you give them money without having at least an order confirmation?

I am not ordering an LE. I put in an order for a GT Premium. They said they could make the order, but not actually submit them on the system yet. I have never bought a new car, or in fact dealt with a dealership before this. I have no idea what is normal, or what is normal for a new car like this, and I also know that some things are done differently here in Hawaii and have no idea if this is one of them. All I know is I put in a custom customer order, and that they have not put it in a system yet. I basically only received receipts for my refundable deposit.
I was working with a salesperson who said that I was the third person they had done this for last week. What exactly should I be telling them? Where do they need to go to put in the order, where would I go to check the status of the order? As I said, I am 100% new to this process.

I would direct them to this site and more specifically to the Orders Placed thread, There is no excuse for not being able to put in an order at this point and provide either a DORA or Order Confirmation.

Here is where you can track your order - http://www.cotusb.ford.com/

Mine shows up there and was placed on the 23rd and I got an Order Confirmation.

I was at the local dealer today looking at a 14 MY, and I spoke with the new car manager who told me he placed an order for himself in the order bank system. He also said that the orders sitting in the order banks wouldn't be placed until August 13th. I guess that means they are in limbo until the order fulfillment goes live later. Guess we'll see!

I wouldn't call the guy a liar, but I would say if he is a manager, he needs to pay attention in his classes. Orders will start scheduling next month, this is when they are issued a VIN and projected build date. Job one starts in mid august if the project manager is on his A game during plant conversion. If they run into equipment problems or supplier shortfalls, things can slide. Maybe he means start of production.
