I'm very fortunate that the group I'm working with is SC Vinyl here in Central PA (check them out). They do tinting, PPF, and vinyl color change wrap. Half their customers are out of state from NY, Maryland, Virginia primarily that take the trip for service. They are excellent and well known. I did my research and they are highly praised for their dedication and craftsmanship. They use Suntek Ultra.I went and looked at a few cars that had the PPF done. While its less easy to see when you do full panels they still don't wrap around the edge like a vinyl wrap would, they just get close. So if you are ~3-4ft away you can still see the edges of the PPF material. I know that different brands of material have different thicknesses that might affect that, I only looked at cars with Xpel. If your car is dirty the lines near the edges are more visible. Maybe I'll end up changing my mind but $1600+ is a hefty chunk of money.
As for Ceramic Coatings I will likely coat the car on my own using some version of CQuartz. I am planning on getting a polisher to do my own paint correction. Two of my brothers have done their own in the past with great results. I have two other cars that I can practice both on the paint correct and ceramic coatings!
This is my Focus ST after a quick polish.
I'm thinking of just doing my Heritage wheels and calipers with ceramic coating. Even though my car is new, it probably needs a decon wash and a close look at the paint by a professional detailer. My guess it will “need” polished well.
Beautiful finish on your Focus!
