You should be happy that the Camaro is a better performance car. It forces Ford to up their game.

That is what I was hoping for when I bought my '18. Unfortunately it is no different then my '15 was.

Just curious, what were you expecting to be different? It has virtually the same interior, save for the touchscreen, and only has 25-30 more HP, something like 6-8%. If you are disappointed with the power of the '15, then you will be disappointed with the power of the '18. The one "major" feature if you will, the 10A, you did not opt for. Myself, I would not expect to like the dynamics of an '18 more or less than I like my '15 (which I like a rather lot). But it would depend on what you were not happy with in the '15, and what compelled you to opt for the newer model.

The only reason to go from a 15-17 to an 18 is if you're getting the 10 speed. Otherwise, the performance isn't that different.

Are you serious?

I drove off the lot in my 2019 PP2 and it went right back to the dealer because tranny was broken and some noise upfront at highway speed.

I'm keeping my 16 GT w/465 hp and may never sell it, due to it's mod improved handling and "double take" looks it gets.

All the hype. Between this forum and the Youtube videos I thought it was something completely better. And I didn't have the performance package before so I thought it would be more tuned on the highway.

Appreciate your honesty. Always good to go into these situations skeptical rather than optimistic. Expect it to not be that much better and if it is then make your choice. Barring any significant advancement, I expect more of the same as what you had before. There have been a few times that I proved myself wrong, but in most cases the actual differences are marginal at best. I learned this lesson in the 90's when I spent way more money that I should have at the time on computer parts that benchmarked much, much better but in practical every day scenarios (playing games, etc) had little or no discernible difference. Add to that the extreme depreciation of these things (>$500 parts that were literally worthless in less than three years) and I learned my lesson very quickly.

Ford would like you to believe that what you are getting is "so much superior that you have to upgrade" but the real difference is how it feels to you. If you have to look at dynos and magazine times to really tell the difference, then it is probably not worth spending the money. Anyhow, as I try to stress to my kids (and try to learn myself), every situation is an opportunity to learn. Cheers!

Consider yourself fortunate. That was a relatively low cost way to learn a valuable lesson.
Major changes for ‘18+:
-A10 transmission
-Magneride suspension

Positive changes:
-GT more horsepower, torque, higher reving
-EB more torque
-Interior softer materials
-Lower hood (my wife is 5’2”, this was a big improvement)

The ‘18+ are the BEST Mustangs ever! But the earlier S550s aren’t exactly slouches either. Test drive the various models (GT, EB, V6) both new and used, and packages (too numerous to list) and get the one that YOU like the most.

Agreed that the '18 has some advantages over earlier s550s (you forgot to mention factory exhaust sound), and if I were buying new (and cost was not a major factor for me) I would get an 18/19 over a 17 or older. But already sitting in a '15, there is not enough to pull me out of it, take the financial hit, for something that, on the road, would be little to no different. I can add a PP2 (power pack) to my Mustang and aftermarket exhaust and have everything that I think I am missing for less than a grand.

But then again, maybe I am a little different because, when it comes to cars, I look for the best option for me at the time that I am ready to buy, and stick with it until something about that car or my life situation compels me to change it. My '15 is good enough and, barring an accident or major set of break downs, or possibly a change of direction for me an my wife, it is my car for the foreseeable future.

So on the “sales” thread on C6G the Mustang is now cheaper then the Camaro again and it is only selling more because of hype. Also there is a false statement about retail sales the Mustang leads the superior Camaro in straight up retails sales alone lol this is a joke I still can’t believe people want to come on here and push BS all the time.
did ya'll hear what Mama said? "SHUT UP 'N DRIVE!" Dman

I really like this post. Too many people have that craving to get the latest and greatest all the time and while that's great for the dealerships and car manufacturers, it can really dent your personal finances.

Sure, I bought a new 2018. BUT...I did not already have an S550. If I did, I would have just held onto it and done exactly as the above posts suggest...modify it when I got bored with it, drive it until the wheels were falling off it, and then move on.

Keeping up with the Jones' is a dangerous game. I choose not to play.

We are in full agreement! It is always easy, no matter what the "thing," to get sucked into the "it is SOO much better" game. Cell phones, TV's, cameras, even appliances these days, and yes cars. My parents always stressed that there is no reason to replace something that is perfectly good and functional unless something changes and it is no longer sufficient. Now, I am not as good as they are about it, but I am much better than most I think. My last car that I bought for me was a 2002 Ford Taurus (got it cheap) and I drove that for over 11 years. Waiting for the S550 I drive my grandma's old 1996 Mercury Mystique for a couple of years before jumping up the Mustang (was waiting to find just what I wanted). It can be hard when you go looking at the newest with its newer features to walk back away, so usually I do not look until I am ready to buy. I guess this "gotta have the newest" mentality could also be the cause of the high divorce rate...

exactly! the marketing of the next big thing is the ultimate "carrot for the donkey" and Ford plays close to the vest. Magna-ride was available and could have been offered earlier but then what's the hook in '18? you can buy, drive and enjoy or...keep waiting for the Unicorn to show up. speaking of shocks, hope people realize that the GT4 Multimatic Mustangs are a spool system shock as well as F1 and several other race groups. sooooo? enjoy the moment Dman
