The funny thing is - most who are new to the Mustang world and want to toot their V8 horns would be shocked to know that the FIRST Mustang was not built with a V8, it was a 4-popper.

I feel like things will only get worse for the Camaro due to the absolutely hideous refresh. Maybe they can do an emergency facelift like the Civic did a few years ago and fix it, or go back to the 16-18 looks. But with the new look I think sales will be even worse.

He's avoiding the elephant in the room: you CANNOT see out of the Camaro.

The 'buff books' (Car and Driver, Road & Track, etc.) know it.

GM screwed the pooch on the styling and must now pay the price. It's a shame because the chassis on the 6th gen car is one of the best GM has ever built and can punch above its weight class pretty well. Hopefully the 7th gen car has a better greenhouse. Until then, Ford and FCA will reap the benefits of GM's shortsightedness.

The '70-'73 is my favorite iteration of the Camaro, and styling to that end would have made the 6th gen.

I hate the new SS snout, but don't mind the lower trim front ends as much...

I think he's talking about the 1963 prototype, which shared absolutely nothing with the production car, except (part of) the name.

There was no four cylinder in a production mustang until 1974, and it was the pathetic "Pinto" 2.3l.

When the sales were okay and the Camaro lead for the handful of months is was a celebration but now that sales are bad and some of the worst months since 2010 the threads are being hidden away

The last event I went to, there was 10-12 Mustangs of all different generations and there was even Challengers and Chargers... Not a single Camaro.

No offense intended, but that's a bit of a stretch. The majority of pony car drivers I've seen in the EcoBoost are women who dont care about a V8 and young guys who either cant afford a V8 or (more commonly) can't afford or don't want to pay insane (but honestly, fair based on all the stupid shit my buddies and I did) insurance rates on a V8.

I disagree. I'm an older guy who can afford a GT. Frankly, I can afford to drive a GT-350, or an Audi, BMW, Porsche, etc. I don't drive any of those cars because none of them offers the combination of low acquisition cost, killer style, performance and economy I get with an EcoBoost Mustang. This car is my daily driver. It's nearly as economical as the Honda Accord it replaced, is quick enough not to be embarrasing, and looks better than 99% of what I see on the road. In the end I got a car with all the amenities (heated/cooled leather, 8" display, fantastic stereo) for under $28k that turns heads every time I drive it.

It's not the performance, or the styling, or the cost by themselves that makes the Mustang what it is, it's the unique combination of all those things together. This is the reason that the Mustang is eating the Camaro's lunch.
