I couldn't get past the interior. I like the latest exteriors, but they lost me on the square vents and gauges.

From the convertible point of view, I love that you can take the top down or up > 0mph and the trunk hides it (yes, I know, we have more trunk space). How many times it doesn't look like it's gonna rain and then - rain - and have to come to a complete stop on the side of the highway or at a red light to put the top up.

Found their forums at https://www.camaro6.com/forums/

Curious who is their big parts distributor ? Like americanmuscle.com - I can't seam to find 1 website / company that "sells it all"
You do know that the square vents and gauges went away with the 6th Gen redesign in 2016, right?

Al also made it seem like the 4 banger is outselling the V8 by a wide margin, which is not true. I believe almost half the Mustang’s sold are 5.0 w/ a few being the GT350/R.
I think his point was comparing 4-cylinder sales to 4-cylinder sales. Both cars sell about 35 - 40% V8, but Camaro has a harder time selling 4-cylinder. Part of that is the V6 is very capable. Part of it is Mustang’s 4-cylinder is a better performer and also has better styling, closer to the V8 car styling.

Slap a Flowmaster Outlaw catback on an EB and it’s going to wake it up in the “sound” department. It gives it a deeper rumbly tone, not the raspy mosquito-esque fart-pipe sound that some turbo enthusiasts (insert all brands of turbo cars here) love... I bought the FM catback for my prior 2016 after hearing it in person and others have attested to it in the EB forum as well IF that is a sound that someone is looking for in a 2.3 S550. I don’t have it installed yet, but it’s going on in the future.

The 84-86 SVO’s sounded great with the same cat-back for those who owned or drove those Mustangs back in the 80/90’s.

Now onto the subject at hand...

What many folks are neglecting to see when buying a new S550 is this:
If you buy an EB or GT - the entire platform is exactly the same SANS the ENGINE. Everything being offered today by Ford AND the aftermarket is totally compatible and swappable between BOTH platforms. You name it, it can be done to EITHER platform.

Ford did it right by offering the Performance Package on both the GT and EB - and another thing folks don’t realize is that if buying the EB PP - you’re getting MORE CAR for the $$$$, better bang for the buck. If you take it one step further and get the EB Premium W/PP, then you’re really on par with a loaded GT, SANS the ENGINE for still FAR LESS. Everything a GT comes equipped with in today’s Mustang can be equipped the same on an EB.... SANS the ENGINE.

I could have bought a new 2016 GT when I bought my prior 2016 EB Prem w/PP.... and when that car was bought back through Ford’s RAV process, again, I could have selected a GT over another EB Prem w/PP... I didn’t because I got a Mustang that has ALL of the same shit on it as a GT, can be modified the same as a GT, handles and performs just like a GT, has the same interior package options as a GT.....for thousands LESS than a GT.

Let’s also put this into perspective, buying an EB PP also saves the consumer money here:
Insurance - (full coverage is what most need or select
Tires - in stock PP form, an EB comes squared where a GT does not, therefore stock tires cannot be rotated on a GT
Fuel - been many posts on this site with MPG comparisons and consumption for both GT and EB
Oil changes - if relying on Dealers or shops - the GT takes far more oil than the EB.

I’m in no way bashing the GT at all..... I also get the whole GT sounds better and it’s a V8....

My 2018 EB marks the 20th Mustang I’ve owned to date, including my 94 Cobra - out of all I’ve owned, only 4 have been 2.3’s (2 SVO’s and now 2 EB’s). The V8 arguments and trash talk on this site is really absurd and those who trash other S550’s for the mere fact of an ENGINE choice, your V8 Mustang is no different at all from an EB or V6.

The funny thing is - most who are new to the Mustang world and want to toot their V8 horns would be shocked to know that the FIRST Mustang was not built with a V8, it was a 4-popper. ALL Mustangs today wouldn’t exist if it were not for that Mustang prototype that put us where we are as an Enthusiast Community with an affinity for the Mustang.

Ford has it right by continuing to improve the Mustang, regardless of WHAT drivetrain it has, because without the continued Engineering, development, design, new ideas, and possibility of a future electric motor powered Mustang - the very car we drive and modify could have faced extinction like so many other performance cars that are gone today.

Unfortunately, the world as a whole is migrating away from manual transmissions and large gas powered engines - sure they’re never going to be totally eliminated, but from a Corporate Business perspective in the automotive world, these manufacturers can satisfy future buyers with smaller displacement engines with turbos OR with an “SUV” all the while still having to maintain ever changing stricter safety and EPA standards being pushed upon them by Governments.

IMO, GM doesn’t have a place in the auto community, they would have been GONE if it were not for the financial handout and prop up from the US Government (did they ever repay it ALL)? The Camaro has been trying to play catch up with the Ford Mustang since it’s inception and always takes the back seat.... oh yea, that’s right, the Camaro WAS EXTINCT at one point.... where the Mustang has always been galloping steadily ahead with NO production interruptions ever.

I think the Ecoboost with Ford power pack is a heck of a great car . But, call it a Mustang Turbo, not something that sounds like a Prius wannabe. Ecoboost is a terrible name for a sports car.

Yuck! V6 - bleh.

I could get onboard for a V8 turbo or a big NA V8, though.

The mustang doesn't need 1,200 hp. But it could do good to have about 500ft-lbs of torque at 2,800rpms..

I'd like to see a bump in the Ecoboost HP say something in the neighborhood of 330hp.

Why though? I understand a lot of crap drivers struggle with the 5.0 but that kind of power is pointless for 99% of drivers on the street. Unless people are street racing stock cars for money.

That exactly what the power pack has....but more importantly large gains under the curve.

Yep, my first car was a brand new '77 Camaro 305 CID, 145 BHP! Pretty sad for a 5 litre V8
Hey my first car was a '73 Mach1... that beast pumped out 150hp from a 351C , had the worst brakes ever installed on a production vehicle and would swap ends on a wet road for no apparent reason. How I didn't die in that car is still a mystery to me.

If you buy an EB or GT - the entire platform is exactly the same SANS the ENGINE.

Correct

Everything being offered today by Ford AND the aftermarket is totally compatible and swappable between BOTH platforms. You name it, it can be done to EITHER platform.

Correct

Tires - in stock PP form, an EB comes squared where a GT does not, therefore stock tires cannot be rotated on a GT

Wrong, they can be rotated side to side

Fuel - been many posts on this site with MPG comparisons and consumption for both GT and EB

Fuel mileage is a wash. The EBM is a dog without premium gas. The GT has a minor hp penalty when running regular, but it isn't really noticeable

Oil changes - if relying on Dealers or shops - the GT takes far more oil than the EB.

Correct, 8-8.5 quarts for GT, 5.7-6 quarts for EBM

But you're forgetting one important thing. If you plan to modify the performance of your car, the GT has a huge leg up. The power potential before risking block failure is a lot higher on a GT versus an EBM. With that said, if the EBM sounded good, I would have kept it instead. The EBM is a phenomenal car, but it just sounds so bad. And this isn't a knock on the EBM because there are 4 cylinder cars out there that sound great. This isn't one of them. The turbo and blow-off sounds were amazing on mine, but not even the best exhaust for the car(MBRP Race) sounds great, it just sounds okay...
