Adding insult to injury they are posting in the "Lund vs. Livernois thread while this is going on:
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105142&page=4

Livernois is dead in my book after this thread.

A 2017 service motor is 4k and change with core INCLUDING NEW HEADS and comes w oil in it.
2 techs, 2 10hr days or 3 8hr days and refire. 1600 labor and misc parts like exhaust gaskets, 50 bucks. Most importantly, shop proves they are worth trusting.

I would say call Jeremy, Glen, Dave or Chris... BUT THEY AINT AT LIVERNOIS NO MORE!

Instructions for shop:
#1 Make enough money to handle swapping motors at cost WHEN (not IF) you kill a customers motor.
Check compression before installing anything on a motor. Install shit. Get tune done and run it hard and hotter than customer will.
Check compression. Back it down 10% and hand back to customer.
If customers need to be constantly logging because tune is on ragged edge, FREAKN TELL THE CUSTOMER THAT!

The device we currently have does not data log yes but you can take the car to a tuning shop and have them pull data from the car and send us the logs and we can adjust as needed for higher built cars, also we prefer to have the higher end builds done here that way we know everything is right and properly installed that way our customers are completely satisfied with the car when it is returned!
How can you guys not know of this issue with one of your customers cars here. You need to read and respond to this thread.

They always knew. Better to best placate said customer and wait for it to blow over than answer a shit-ton of questions on a message board. My take anyway...

please share the photos and keep us posted. did they give you a return date?
My salesman said that they have the car as a top priority. I'm not happy with how things turned out, but I believe LMS and myself have been respectful to each other. My salesman, Steve, said unless something totally out of the ordinary happens that the car will be done by or before the end of July.

They have to inspect the heads visually for any possible dammange.

He said they will take photos and send them to me as well as returning the damaged parts. Since I will be back in the metro Detroit area next week I will stop by and see the progress and take photos as well. They are starting the car likely tomorrow.

I asked him about making more power with this forged bottom end. He said the car can do 850 rwhp with the new bottom end. So, we are looking at how much HP we can get out of the Magnuson without much add'l $ and a SAFE tune...

I will definitely update this as I know more.

It always amazes me when I read these threads that people expect the same level of reliability as a stock car. You are building a race car fella's, and a race car will do what race cars do, they will cost you lots and lots of money. The builder/tuner has absolutely no idea what you do or what you kinda gas you put in your car from the moment it leaves his shop or you install the tune.

If your car is your daily and you can't live without it or you can't pay for a popped motor, leave the damn thing stock.

OP, good luck with your situation.

This is a bit of an overstatement. Can you tell me that every STOCK GT500, 03/04 Cobra, Hellcat, Subaru WRX/STI, Mecedes AMG, etc.,etc. that are supercharged or turboed are "race cars" and will cost you money? If a tune is done properly and you dont goof up and put 87 octane in your tank, things will be fine. An improperly tuned car or one tuned on the ragged edge of safety is another story.

Does anyone really expect ANY aftermarket tuner/builder to have the resources of a manufacturer to ensure their motor will live regardless of how a customer will treat their product? Yet even with those resources we have low speed detonation on eco and 2018 5.0 rattle issues.

If you get bad gas, the nannies will not save your ass when the motor is leaned on as hard as 675 HP.

There is nothing wrong with making big power, just be realistic that when you do, you may have do deal with shit as a result. It does suck when your number gets called, don't get me wrong.

My understanding is that forged pistons are more durable than the cast ones stock. How true is this to predetonation, like in the gas station puts the wrong octane in the wrong tank, which could have happened to me?

I had a 1987 Buick Grand National with a turbo charger that I put 60,000 miles on.That was 30 years ago technology,so give me a break and don't blow smoke up my ass.

In the U.P. where 93 is hard to find and not near my house, I ordered Torco for my 2011 and made sure with the 91 locally was a calculated 95. Maybe that is the way to go?

They are more durable, but detonation can kill any piston.
