I use to track my vette with Bilsteins. Hell of a shock but I find that their delay to market probably a sign that they aren't bringing anything new to the market. I wish companies would release data with their shocks so people can compare them for their applications. Not all shocks are created equal.I feel like my suspension was worth it, and it's all Steeda. Weird. Tons of want for Bilstein shocks and they can't even manufacture them. I hope they're good!
Have you considered Motion Control or JRZ or JRi? In the Mustang community... you'll find those on real race/track cars.
Drift cars... don't worry about what they have.
I dont want my car to be full race car...im glad you like steeda stuff and i wasnt trying to offend. Prior to the mustang, i was into jdm cars and owned a supra with bilsteins, also my dad's bmw's had bilsteins; so from personal experience, i know they can make good shit. I will agree theyre having some sort of issue now getting stuff to market cuz ive already paid for the suspension and impatiently waiting. Ive heard from tuner shops that some steeda components werent as well built when compared to bmr products and some upr products.I feel like my suspension was worth it, and it's all Steeda. Weird. Tons of want for Bilstein shocks and they can't even manufacture them. I hope they're good!

I would say Swift is just as good, if not better than Hyperco. Swift has their own proprietary metal they use for their springs.Ive heard hyperco are better...not true?
You're awful defensive about Steeda stuff. I did contact Steeda via email when i was planning my build and they threw their entire catalog at me and their labor costs were insane.Well since UPR blatantly copies some Steeda products and makes them worse (camber arms, for example), the statment that UPR makes a better product confuses me, haha. More like those shops know UPR or BMR from drag racing. BMR part quality is strong but I prefer the engineering (by actual chassis engineers) behind Steeda parts of the three.
Call SteedaTech vs letting “speed shops” shove misinformation down your throat.
The brands for coilovers I mentioned (ad Steeda) mak great street/track coilovers. Get single adjustable (since it’s all you really need) and you’ll find affordable pricing, too.
As for Swift... all day every day I’d buy from them, personally.
Honestly coilovers isnt a must have for me. Which is why i went with bilstein because i know theyre not the typical hardcore stuff; i still want to cryise with the wife on the highway and not hurt her back just cruising around but still have the ability to do a track day and get good performance out of the setup. As for alternatives, I am really leaning toward doing the steeda pro action with the bmr springs and was strongly goving consideration to those fortune auto 500's with the hyperco springs which would be around 1500. Do you think i can get motion control, jrz or jri for less than 1600 with everything needed?Yes, you're right. Intensely so, being real. Too much, arguably. But why? Because the horseshit I hear about them is frustrating. If you get to the bottom of the stories or from where they come from, more often than not you expose what's just a game of telephone, hearsay, and old news or perpetuated by their competition baselessly to justify their own design, which could very well be a copy or derivation (not always, of course). There's a general animosity toward Steeda because its... Steeda. Either some racer got beat by them or maybe a part of theirs broke once and so they decided all Steeda parts are bad and will break or they caused the issue and blamed it on Steeda or they get propagandized by their competition. With very few ACTUALLY in the know facts. That is not to say, of course, Steeda parts don't break. I've had a Steeda part break. They just replaced it. Nobody's perfect. I exposed a clear BMR product design flaw to BMR privately, and was told in the end it's my fault and then thrown under the bus on this forum. That's the kind of people they are. UPR did not use better materials on their camber arms, for example. They screw in the STEEL adjuster screw into ALUMINUM which will just lock up over time and/or strip the threads.
Anyway... I'll stop here. You're right. I do highly recommend, though, that if you want quality coilovers... CALL and talk to someone at Motion Control, JRZ, and/or JRi. Have a conversation about your needs with the people that design the part. Including that in your decision-making will improve your outcomes, I promise.
Lol now it all makes sense...you never mentioned you ran a shop. Thanks for the advice brother. I really want those bilsteins but my impatience is getting the best of me. I will reach out to those guys you recommended and weigh out my options; do hit me up if you're south florida.I'm not sure you can with those brands, but often if you call they will sell you a rebuilt set (which are equal to new, but with scratches from previous use, basically) for a huge discount. They take trades, then rebuild, then sell the rebuilts. That's likely how I'll get coilovers when the time comes. If you don't need to corner balance or you don't feel you will ever experiment with spring rates (lots of work to change), don't get coilovers. Ultimately it's more complexity than needed, then.
The Steeda Pro-Action / BMR spring combo would work great. I'm totally confident the Bilsteins will get great reviews, by the way. I look forward to seeing reviews of them and I likely would have bought them if they were available when I started my journey, but I've been very happy with the Steeda dampers so that worked out.
Good luck and have fun! Feel free to come on up to Atlanta and I'll install what you got at my shop, haha.
You're a good man...wish there was a group of guys around me that i could learn some things from; a couple group projects where we help each other out.I don't RUN a shop. I work on my car and other Mustangs at someone else's shop. The people who have me work on their car are by referral, often want to claim they installed it themselves (I don't tell anyone I worked on XYZ person's car... if you were in my circle you'd understand why that matters to some people) or they want to learn how to do it and work with me, and I do it mostly because I enjoy it. In the end, I'm an enthusiast like you.
Pongo23,Honestly coilovers isnt a must have for me. Thanks for the input; those big guns are out of budget but i can probably stretch for ridetech level 2 hq; you didnt mention that one but if im not mistaken it has a true coilover in the rear as well? Any feedback for that one?Pongo23,
I think you might have the wrong impression with coilovers. It sounds like you are associating a harsh ride with coilovers when that couldn't be further from the case.
A good quality set of coilovers for the most part should ride better than stock. The higher the quality coilover, the better the ride.
I do think that for the money, the Fortune Auto's are an excellent choice. However, if you spend a little more on say KW, MCS, JRi, JRZ you will have an even nicer ride. Of course you can spend the big bucks on a set of Ohlins. I believe KW makes the coilovers for Steeda.
You can get a set of MCS single adjustable's w/ a true coilover in the rear for $2750. That is an amazing price for what you get given the fact that the guys at MCS all came from Moton.
I would definitely say do not skimp on coilovers. Coilovers are always the first thing I do when modding my suspension. They will make the biggest difference in handling and in ride. Then do swaybars. Then everything else.
