I had a set of FA 500s on my old BMW 335 for about 8000 miles. I wasn't terribly impressed with the quality when I took them off. I doubt they would have lasted 3 years on a DD in New England.

What made you come to that conclusion?

The degree of wear/corrosion they had in what was only about a year of use. A significant amount of the powder coat had flaked off the springs and they were rusty and pitted in those locations, one of the lower rear mounts was so rusty the threads snapped off when I tried to remove the nut holding it to the control arm, etc.

I made a point of washing the salt off the underside of the car through the winter but they were still in far worse shape after only about a year and 8000 miles than the factory parts were after 8 years and 70,000 miles.

I have had plenty of different spring and shock combos on various cars over the years and none of them ever held up as nearly poorly as those FA500s.
