Thought I should share with everyone... I was in the left of 2 lanes on the main drag through town, speed limit is 45. The guy to my right is speeding up, slowing down, speeding up slowing down, so I got on her a little (think it dropped into "passing gear") to get by him for good. It was only for a couple of seconds but when I lifted off of the gas pedal, the car continued to accelerate for another brief moment. It was barely over a second but it was DEFINITELY there. I have the 10SP auto and I was in sport+ driving mode and the gear shift was in drive. There was a car in front of me but not close enough for a pucker factor score. Anyway, like I said, thought I should share, so there you go.

Are you using the factory mats? Maybe something hung the throttle up? I would take it to the dealer asap so they can scan the computer for any codes AND more important document this. So, if the car gets away from you in the future-you have it on record.

As soon as you said "sport+ driving mode" I figured it out. As you let off, it downshifted and did a rev match at the same time. It does have a "pushy" effect. It's the transmission logic anticipating that you are going to continue along.

For example: try this (make sure no one is in front of you)...toggle the driving mode to sport+. While maintaining a constant speed of 35 mph, quickly floor it and let off. The car will rev and hold the revs in anticipation that you continue "doing something that justifies being in sport+ mode". If you lightly put your foot back on the gas during this scenario, it will take off.

It does exactly that, why you have that D for normal every day driving, just my guess though.

yeah, it's unnerving to say the least. i find it happening when i'm coming to a stop. Ford has something out of whack in the auto trans tune

With everything Ford is doing these days, it seems they have more out of whack than just auto transmissions. :ford:

Most makes try to second guess your intentions with fewer or no modes and wind up in a manic Eco/Performance battle. Even BMW M cars will do that. I think Ford has a really great setup here.

Perhaps it just held the RPMs and gave you the impression it was accelerating? I could see that being the perception if you were expecting a hard engine brake. But without throttle application the car should have maintained or slowed.

As others said, In sport mode it holds RPM longer than usual and rev matches downshifts, that might be what you felt.

We know that but with the six speed I never had exactly that feeling. The OP isn’t the only one now so I take back what I said above. I think we should accept their accounts at face value. It could be another teething problem in the A10. First year so it happens...

There’s nothing wrong with the transmission . That’s what sport plus does if you don’t want it leave it in normal problem solved

He didn’t say “rev” but said “accelerate”. I love the sound as you come to a stop but there was never acceleration when I lifted! As I said this has happened to others so rather than discount his experience I think we should keep an eye on this. If this was a tranny with years of flawless service and all that it may be different. But the first few months on a new transmission - and possible unintended acceleration, well I would not brush it off so fast.

In fact after so much BS that was flung around tonight (and I enjoy it) this is the most serious thing we talked about!

My gut says that this is what would happen when you try to rev match a down shift with a slush box auto.

Dual clutch rev matches work great, because the car is technically shifting into neutral for a fraction of a second, reving, and shifting - just like a manual, just much faster.

With an auto-trans, the power is never fully disengaged. If you're coming to a stop and the computer has made the decision to blip the throttle and downshift, you're going to surge before stopping. It's the downside of an intelligent automatic like the 10 speed - when your intentions differ from those of the onboard computer, weird things happen.
