My '16 GT is a base model. Not sure if the trunk floor / spare tire cover is different on base or not. But mine won't stay in place and doesn't seem to have anything in the trunk floor to keep it in place. Then the other day I had a box of paper in trunk and the floor cover collapsed. Anyone else have this issue? Any solution? My car only has 3000 miles on it.

I bought some wood slats about 1/2" thick and cut them into 22" for the sides and 24" for the rear so it would clear my air tank. it helps to keep it in place as well. I thought about painting them black but I rarely lift up the cover.

So, it sounds like the trunk floor "sag" is common. Has anyone tried taking it in under warranty for the sag?

Did you remove the foam thing that holds the sealant under it?
Although I have to say Ford quality is just cheap. My WRX has 3 different pieces of foam under the cover just to make sure it can support the weight.

On mine there wasn't a foam thing or anything where the spare would be. Should there be a piece of foam in there? Maybe that's the problem.

my car has a spare. If it didn't have the spare, I wouldn't be surprised if there was no foam spacer. I think the PP has a foam spacer. Maybe you can order one.

You should have a rigid foam piece there which has a cutout for the tire inflator kit. I also have a 16' Base GT and mine comes with it. Either someone took it out or it was an error from the factory. Just go to the dealer and say it was missing.

The curled up body of my latest dead hooker is keeping mine propped up.

Melwff thank you. That makes sense. I'm sure the original owner probably took it out.

BFord1 did you buy something so support the cover? If so, what was it? I'm in the same situation.

No I never did. But, I haven't tried going by the dealership to see if I can get the foam insert others referred to.

I'm probably just going to stick something in there for support. I can only find the foam piece as part of a kit, but I just want the foam piece.

I took mine out of the trunk to put in Ford’s OEM spare tire kit. If you want it, you can have it for the cost of shipping. :D It’s currently just taking up space in my garage.
