I'm considering this swap next year; the Mustang is too big for me and gets little use beyond pleasure (which I have no time for), so I may swap two cars for one, and get an M2. It ticks nearly all the boxes and is much smaller (and no less practical).

I also like that it's slightly more invisible for daily use. But, I'm a worrier and the Mustang screams "Look at me!".

I may not though. BMW in general make great cars but they don't excite me.

At least we have the choice though!

Mustang is a look at me car, due to its heritage and good looks.
Still if that puts you off, you might be surprised by M2, they are very recognisable and stand out on the road due to the bulldog and aggressive styling, so if you want it kept under wraps go with a more boring colour.

But in the Atlantis blue they look stunning and certainly stand out.

It's not something I'm too worried about; there's a black one here at work, and a blue one nearby - but like 911s, if you know, then they're interesting. If not, it's just a BMW.

I like the shouty cars - I'd love Camaro or Corvette, and my old Monaro always got nice comments. Having over 20 years history with DeLoreans - well, you can imagine! But, none of them were daily drivers - that's the only thing that puts me off using it every day (well, the size actually, not much else).

Half the story. Sit in both; drive them. The cockpit layout and shorter bonnet make the BMW far easier to drive and park. There's no panacea, I know, but they are very different in practice.

Agreed and the M2 feels more alert. Although I agree the M2 does not have the head turning looks of the Mustang and no one will respect you in a BMW!

Yep, I'd never ever get to leave a junction, or be let out of a parking space, nor change lanes....

If you get the stick shift M2 you might be able to get an ounce of respect! :)
