What on your car isn't for road use?

My concern with the power pack stuff is that there not emissions legal, and it's going to be a substantial ball ache come MOT time.

I remember the days of making sure my single cat STi was burning hot so it would pass the MOT, but do I really want to take my car back to Ford to remove CAI's or reflash to stock to pass an MOT?
Coilovers generally speaking aren't, track apps aren't (we all have this), tunes technically aren't. infact any performance mod isn't street legal. Then you've go the likes of anyone with EPM sequential rears or proper amber sequential rears which are 'show' only and not street legal.

Bearing in mind, of course, that if your vehicle isn't MoT legal, it's illegal all the time, not just at MoT time.

My stupid a$$ insurance ;)!

Who also happily insured me for all my mods, but wouldn't for a set of lowering springs

that's crazy, i've never heard of mods being not street legal. back in the day (modified Nova SRi FTW) if they were not street legal they usually clearly state it. I/e pedal sets, taillights that got rid of the ugly foglight, neon glow under the car  etc. they would always clearly say not for road use.

i always thought exhausts, springs, coilovers etc were fine as long as they were declared to insurance and passed MOT?

If it passes MOT, it's "legal" however, people have decats pass MOTs ;)

It's got more complicated though because you might pass MoT on emissions but there is now a noise figure on your V5. I don't think that's part of the MoT but if you exceed it = not legal.

Do you have any info on this? Does it mean aftermarket exhausts are probably illegal?

Just googled 'V5 noise' and nothing relevant came up...

It was more a question than a statement, but I left the question mark off!

It's this bit on your V5 but I think it (the 75dB figure) is an unenforced Europe wide rule at the moment. MoT is currently something like "typical of the type of vehicle" and noise testing is fraught with problems without very strict controls. It's there though; be nice to know what for.

While the car is under Manufacturers warranty I'd like to have a single point of contact for all "support" for my car. My dealer is also on my doorstep, but there are no indy Mustang performance specialists near me.

Still, once the car is out of warranty and all loans are cleared then I would consider after market parts.

Sorry. :)
No need to apologies, I just wondered why!

I rather fancied the Calibration pack 1, but at over ÂŁ300 more than the one available to domestic customers in the US, I'm not sure I can stomach it, especially with it being 'not for road use' and if there was no ability to install/uninstall via a supplied pro cal tool to help with emissions when required.

Ford say
" and can be fitted at a Ford Dealer by specially-trained technicians"

but not at present for the performance packs :frusty:

Anyone had performance pack 1, 2 or 3 fitted yet ?
