Let me guess, the Mustang is your first American brand... and you live in Virginia. Ever hear "Buy American" ..? If not buy one of the big three from Europe..? Anything else is considered an "off brand" knockoff..! (KIA is a budget brand)

Btw, a Kia is a Hyundai and the Mustang itself s older than those "off brand" fledgling companies.
Obviously, you have no idea of how right winged Virginia is as a state, and you do not have any insight on how each county varies in culture. I have spent the majority of my life in Virginia, and was never drawn to Ford until the quality and design of their vehicles improved. Obviously, I have an affinity for the company now and its rich history, but it would not matter if the products were junk.

If you think that the brand of a vehicle defines the quality of its underpinnings, then you are truly an embarrassment to eyes of many car enthusiast.

They are nice. That engine has to be severely underrated.
They must be underrating it. I test drove (and will likely lease) a Genesis G90 with the 3.3TT V6. The car is a freaking boat but when you stop the gas, hold on. It hauls serious a**.

I've had numerous Hyundai and Kia cars. I had a 2004 elantra for 8 years and 130,000 trouble free miles. Had a loaded 2014 Sorento SX that I traded in for the Lexus and for what I paid for it, it was incredible. Also, completely trouble free and ran butterly smooth. No squeaks or rattles either, not that I could have ever hear them over the sound of the 12 speaker Infinity sound system :D

And as for never seeing an SS, I thought the same too but one day I said "That Chevy malibu looks kind of aggressive for a family car" and quickly realized it was an SS. Hard to distinguish between the two from a distance.

I've daily driven my Pontiac G8 for 10 years and I love it. Wish I could keep it forever honestly. The SS is just an updated G8 with poor styling and better tech. I would've replaced the G8 with one if it looked half decent at all. I hate that there are no American made reasonably priced options for a rear wheel drive aggressive performance sedan anymore (No, I wouldn't buy a Charger). The Stinger is interesting and I respect the effort, but I can't buy a Kia either.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that. I thought the G8 was the ugliest thing GM made for that period. I loved the GTO and the SS and had NO idea why people found the G8 attractive. I had my Mach1 at the time and was thinking of trading in on the "new GTO" but then I saw the G8 and just kept my car instead.

I found the G8 to be one of the nicest sedans on the market! Though looks are always going to be subjective.

I too loved my G8 and sometimes I regret selling it, but then I remember why I sold it, and life is better.

I liked my G8 very much. Added many aftermarket extras like GPS dash kit, tune for 87 octane, trans tune, VCM CAI, Lovel front struts, debadged Pontiac and rebadged as Holden. 30mpg on the road, excellent ride and handling, had a custom black and white leather interior, sorry to see it go. The new Commodore/Chevy SS was just a tad larger but same drivetrain. Loved working on this car, very user friendly.

Until you actually checkout a stinger you should withhold judgment.

Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
That's like saying the Ford Fiesta is the fastest car on the road because Ford makes the GT. One car does not make the brand.

What trim G8? GXP, GT, Base?

They are still highly desired cars, but expensive to maintain now.

My coworker has a 2016 SS with 6 speed manual and its an awesome car. It looks much better in person, especially with the Holden emblems and blacked out chrome trim. The interior won't fool you into thinking it's German or a Lexus, but it's comfortable and nice enough. It handles, accelerates, and stops really well for a car of its size. The stock exhaust also sounds great with lots of pops and burbles on downshifts. The rarity is also a plus as they only produced 12k or so through 4 model years.

If i needed four doors its the only car I would consider strictly due to the 6 speed manual. I wouldn't pay MSRP for one, but it's a lot of car for 40k. I like Holdens and I was actually looking for one before I picked up the Mustang but all of the deals on 2017 manuals were gone by the time I looked. I think they'll hold their value really well, similar to the G8 GXP.

EBM, mine was a GT that the dealer had the custom black and white interior installed prior to my purchasing. High maintenance like what? Nine quart oil capacity was my only higher than normal cost.

Sorry, poor choice of words. I meant the repair bill when something breaks.

Right wingers buy American...!
Hard to attach your American flag to a Honda, Toyota or a Kia.

I was never drawn to Ford either, I was a Chevy guy until the 90's. And nobody considered off brands, unless you couldn't afford insurance on an American car, then you bought an off brand budget car.

I've owned 3 BMW's, because they were built with quality underpinnings. And yes, a "Brand" does define the engineering behind the make. If you do not understand this, then you are ignorant as all hell.

KIA's are shitboxes... designed for poor people, so they may feel a little class. Even though, their design philosophies are stolen from other manufactures. Kia had a 2 for 1 deal, a few Xmas ago...

Why not? Kia Sorento and Optima sold in North America are BUILT IN GEORGIA by AMERICANS.

Are you saying your patriotism is dependent on your vehicle choice? That's funny considering your recommended BMW and European brands? Let's use your logic - we lost over 400,000 American soldiers fighting the Germans in WW2. And you'd buy a BMW or other European brand (don't forget the Italians started on Hitler's side)?

The South Koreans (KIA / HYUNDAI) have been are Allies for a long time.

The big three routinely turned out SHIT for cars (at least in terms of Quality Control) in the 70's through some of 90's. The 80's is when the Japanese (Honda / Toyota) really gained a foothold - mainly because of UAW and their practices driving auto workers wages UP, car prices UP and quality steadily declining.

I've owned 3 BMW's, because they were built with quality underpinnings. And yes, a "Brand" does define the engineering behind the make. If you do not understand this, then you are ignorant as all hell.
Funny - you might want to check the engineering and design staff at Kia, Hyundai and the other "off brand" manufacturers and check their resumes. I'll wait.

LMAO - by your logic (God it pained me to use that word, even being facetious, when referring to your musings) BMW's would be for people worried about what other people think of what they drive. Same for Mercedes.

Does telling the truth make me "un American"? Hmmm, I guess spending 6 years getting a really shitty paycheck from Uncle Sam and getting to "visit" really lovely locales around the world doesn't count for much huh?

Believe it or not, there are some people who see a car as PURELY a transportation device to get them and their family from point A to point B in a safe an economically friendly manner.

Love your attitude by the way. Did you lose many of your friends at Starbucks on Sunday morning when you showed up in a non-European car?

Kia, Hyundai and every manufacturer have made LIGHT YEAR jumps in QC for production and engineering. ALL car companies are ultimately driven by the bean counters in the end - that's what keeps them in business - making money - God Bless Capitalism. Seriously - who wants to drive a Lada?

Take every part out of a Ford made in Asia, and you'd likely end up with a go cart - if that. Same goes for most every car manufacturer.

As for Kia being shitboxes - I know a guy who is a sales manager for a large company. They give him a car allowance every month. He drive a TON of miles. He got his first Hyundai in '11. He just got his 2nd Kia. The money he saves between what he spends on his work car versus what his company pays him - well that helped pay for the toy he used on the weekends on the lake and the other toy he races most weekends.

Tell you what - you buy what YOU want with your money, and let other people do the same. It's attitudes like yours that turn people AWAY from the car culture.
